I don't get where you think that I am TRYING to make a connection. Insiders were the ones to say they are the same and then said they were mistaken due to a misunderstanding and were dead set on making sure everyone knew this. Then they messed up by saying that FP and MT not only have nothing to do with one another, they don't know one another. So remember that last line and riddle me this. If MT and FP do not know one another what are FP people doing behind the MT desk? Why did the MT placeholder at Cherrybomb say Fansproject on it? And no, saying it was an error is not the right answer. Maketoys had no placeholder and Cherry Bomb made a big announcement that Maketoys was coming? Help me make sense of how two groups that have never met are always together and then I will drop the connection. Until then I leave you with this: "Believe half of what you see and none of what you hear."
Hey, someone has to be the bad guy, I'll take that mantle for now. Until I'm proven right and then I will be a GOD amongst fans. Before you jump on me the God part was a total joke xD
you only have to look at the FP releases then the MT upcoming now unblurred constructicons to see that the similarities are too close
The answer: It wasn't a MakeToys desk. It wasn't an FP desk either. The desk was managed by Cygnie, an FP insider/collaborator and owner of Ultra Action Toys (?) in Richmond, BC, Canada, a store that regularly carries 3rd Party goods. It was a retailer booth, just like everybody else in the dealer room. He was in possession of both FP and MT products to display. Part of the confusion was his fault, because he believed that the MT product he was given to display was FPs, and advertised that fact. Venksta cleared the whole situation up soon after. Venksta's essentially the FP authority around here. I'll generally believe what he says over heresay. I have no idea what the Cherry Bomb thing was about. Fansproject wasn't even at that show.
If they came right out of the gate with these pics instead of the blurred ones, I would have gotten this instead of Herc. I don't know what they thought they were buying themselves with the blur game. Everybody thought they looked nothing like the G1 'bots. Turns out they look very much like the G1 'bots. Really, really odd to intentionally cause that confusion.
Long Haul and Mixmaster look pretty weak, but won't stop me from getting it for their combined modes.
I was all set to buy this until... No disrespect, but really? I figured it's because Hercules is G1 Green that they felt they needed to be different, but I'm not a big fan of G2 yellow Devy. I'll probably buy it anyway. I never bought any of the Hercules parts, so there's no fear of double dipping.
Individually as a whole, I think TCF's look better in bot mode. But I also think in they look a bit off in bot mode with the other Classics simply due to their size. Six chunky voyagers all together kinda overwhelm what's otherwise mostly deluxes. But combined as Dev, I think either set will probably go fine with the Classics as the size of these two sound to be a lot closer than originally thought. It appears Herc's head will stand about an inch or two higher, but going by the highest point on both it seems to be maybe only a half an inch difference or so.
Where have you been?> that was announced long ago, but either way, a green version as a box set is coming after individual pair release of yellow.
and that's why they do it. Because fans will "buy it anyway". (I suggest you wait for the G1 colored gift set )
I like the sculpts better than the other one, but unless they do waaaaay better with color/paint aps, it's still nothing tempting.
They look generally like I figured they'd look: G1 inspired, but with massive liberties taken, in direct contrast to their extremely G1 Devastator interpretation.
Not really impressed, they don't have the bulk I would connect with the construticons, just not quite solid enough, nice toys though, might get the not g1 colours and use them as some other charicters... erector and co maybe.
Could someone re-blur the photo of Long Haul please? Will be picking a set up anyway but I think I will have to have them always combined or in vehicle modes.
i totally get what yer saying...aside from LH, they all seem kinda ninja-y/lean/slender...not what i would associate with bots whos alt mode is a construction vehicle...not bulky or brutish enough... that said, they are very cool looking and very well designed...
I had a few "checkboxes" for this figure. I was divided, but if I was going to buy a new-mold Devastator, this was it...I thought. -Smart-looking, G1-faithful Combined 'bot: Check. -G1-faithful, but realistic individual alt-modes: Check. Sort of. -Cheaper than 'Hercules': Check. -G1-Faithful robot appearances: Whoops. That's kind of a deal-breaker, when you talk about this kind of money. I suppose if the G1-deco boxset is cheap enough (and I mean clearanced), I'd buy it to put in Devastator or vehicle modes. Sigh. Two companies putting a LOT of work into a seemingly impossible task. Alas, neither got it right.
After seing this im still glade im going to hurcales, the combined Devastaor looks great but the inavital bots are lacking the only one that looks good a scrapper.
