Actually theres plenty wrong, because then people ballpark prices until they find one thier happy with, and when its not that people feel lied to and betrayed....by people who made no such promises. OR it could end up exactly that price (People were FINE with $100 per Hercules limb when it was all just speculating) and yet people then complain thats too much!

How about this.. Let's all assume the price for Menace will be $500... Just like a 1/40 scale gundam that we don't have to build... that way, when it is less than that we can all feel relieved! :)

Price guessing, estimates, and speculating can be confused as facts some times.

I remember reading that "something" will be included for Toxitron (plunger maybe?). I don't remember if it will be included for this Menasor set or the Jet pack prime set. Encline, verify please :D

You know what never gets old? People carrying on, defending prices, as if the companies are just making enough to cover mould costs.

If you don't see the mark up which are enough to cover mould and profit (never mind second, third and forth runs once the mould costs are covered) I have me a pretty little bridge in Brooklyn I'd like to sell you.

These companies are in it for themselves and their pocket books. MAYBE FP caters to fans but there is still money being made by them (and they charge almost half of what the rest do). What is happening here is a bunch of people jumping on this new gravy train. They are not here to break even on a run but to make the most NET PROFIT off a run. The rest of the runs (if they are lucky enough to sell more) is pure HUGE profit.

This isn't about moulds this is simple business.

Indeed it is a business. Business needs to make profit. The more profit the better. I always love that this fandom thinks they understand just how much a third party company should be allowed to make for their time and effort. For all we know some poor guy is going to be locked in his office for 6 months drawing up the plans for this thing to go to production. I am sure they will price it where they need to to cover their time, effort and production costs.

People will pay whatever the toy is worth to them. If this thing costs $300 I will probably only have 1 rather than 2.
There will be no "second, third and forth runs" of this. It is a set for the botcon toys. There may (please oh please) be an autobot version down the road. But that is wishful thinking at best.

As I understand it there were 2000 total stunticon sets made. Hoping that 3 out of 4 people who bought one will get a G1uppers set may be a bit aggressive. But hey go big or go home right? I know we will be seeing several custom painted versions from the Radicons. One in particular.

Look at it this way. If you like it enough to justify the price, buy it. If not, don't. No matter what the price is there will be someone bitching.

I know if it has the articulation of some of the perfect gundams I paid $300-500 for, it pulls off the combination the way I hope, has a kick ass sword and manages to fit in with DJW's design, I will be all over it like a fat kid on cake.

Could we possibly get a "price scale" from '87 as well? that way we can see the amount of growth that happened in the 10 years between that and the one posted as far as production cost goes. With that we can estimate the actual costs today without the biased opinions behind it?

The other factor to think about is the people who own 2 or 3 sets of the Stunticons who might spring for only one add-on set in order to have the individual Stunticons AND Menasor displayed at the same time.

I could see the ultra completists buying 2 add-on sets: one to use for the combined mode and one to use for the vehicle mode trailer, but if the add on set doesn't serve a purpose in individual bot mode, there might be a few of these left over when all is said and done.

I could see that being very common. And there are a lot of people who do own multiple sets. You had to buy a box set to get a bagged set in the first place (yes, I realize some people sell one or the other off). Plus there are a lot of dealers who I know are still sitting on multiple sets waiting to see what happens on the aftermarket once a combiner link set hits.

At 1500 units, they are going to have to be pretty cheap to move that many. We see at least some of the fandom has expectations that the price shouldn't be more than $100 or so. A few of them probably even have the BC set, so we can rule them out as $300 buyers.

I predict ultimately the price will settle around $500-600 for the BC set plus the links. If the add-on is relatively cheap, the demand for BC sets will increase. If the add-on is too high, they just won't sell and the makers will have to mark them down. That is what it will come to... There is such a limited market for these that the market will set the price.

keep in mind that the chart showing estimated costs is for a single piece toy. the Menace kit will DEFINITELY have way more parts.

even though iteh chart is dimensionally close to the Menace kit, more parts create longer machine time needed to create the molds and way longer engineering time to plane out the "sprue" and how the molten plastic will flow to every part and be ejected easily.

most TF parts aren't like lego parts which can be done in two part molds, a lot of them require slides which also increase costs....the parts can be bullshitted to work in two parts but sometimes if they aren't properly shelled out it'll add up to heavier pieces which will make a difference for the distributors because shipping costs will increase.

manufacturing costs and retail costs aren't predictable until the design is done and it's carefully analyzed by a good manufacturer that knows what they are doing. it's fine g1uppers aren't saying anything about price because at this point it would just be like shooting themselves in the foot.

I'm guessing because I don't really know a lot about this process but assembly and painting costs have to factored in somewhere right?
