Who says that it can't come with 2 heads?  

 

I don't know DJW, nor much at all about animated, but do think he's been in or remains in a contract w/ hasbro in some way, shape or form. I also think if he even as little as "suggested" or coincidentally did a head design that would be used on a 3rd party figure, it would scream conflict of interest. Hasbro (I am sure) is strict with that type of thing.

 

Not really. Read his twitter exchanges from people last night that led to this drawing. He put this up because he didn't like any of the heads G1uppers posted. He even said "I need to get a drawing out there". I really don't think DJW is in on any plan.

If that was the case, I don't think he would have done it. I don't think he's stupid, and I'm pretty sure he knows more about what he can and cannot do than you.

People were wondering what an Animated Menasor would look like. Derrick Wyatt decided to show them. If someone makes an unofficial add on of that, then so be it. He wasnt contracted by them to do it, he didn't even say "here, make this", and he certainly isn't making it himself.

 

I'm sure DJW knows exactly what he is doing. And all he did was put a drawing on his Twitter account lol

 

A few days ago this project was a joke after that TFCON sketch. You have gotten some new life from DJW and all the other people who have put in their two cents in the last few days. G1uppers you have everyones attention... make it great.

If the 3rd Party version has a head that looks different then hid design, Then it just gives a opportunity for another 3rd party to make a replacement head. Igear would jump on it.

 

I understand the point you are trying to make, and I'm not going to argue the semantics of "official" but I really take umbrage to people making assumptions about a process they are not familiar with and do not understand. Nearly every time someone makes one of these kind of arguments they fail to understand how our industries work.

I'm not going to die to increase 3rd party sales!

The combination is a minor part IMO. Just a simple matter of working with the right holes and plugs (Giggity?)

I just want to see this guy standing tall and looking killer!

I say both heads need to be included.
Homage both guys and give people a choice.

 

If it makes you feel better or if you want to know my back story to give you some clarification on my viewpoint I've got an animation degree (like about a few million others these days) and I'm currently a freelancer plus I've got a few short films to my name and work experience from studios under my belt that's about it with out going into NDA stuff (nothing cool just copyrighted junk). so I know how it works from the perspective of a relative n00b. Now I've never been a lead designer nor have I worked for CN but I have worked for a few studios in the UK under lead designers (we are talking small time here tho and mostly these are films that just do the film festivals and then drop off the face of the earth) so if you do have some umbrage with me or my post then I hope that gives you some insight.

Am I super awesome? hell no I've got a lot to learn as I'm small time and I need to work other jobs to pay for food and rent in fact it sucks and I really wish I could go back and get my masters money permitting but that's the life I picked for myself and I'm hooked on the medium.... even if real life stuff is sole crushing and I'm constantly being told to get a real job and stop working part time yadda yadda (Im sure we have all had this talk)

Now I recognise your name so I know that really you know your stuff (or im getting you mixed up with some one else if so sorry) so I will just say I was trying to keep it simple and that really anyone working in any industry knows its never that clear and things often differ company to company. And when theirs a budget you often find people working many roles. hell I once had to play story board artist and compositor it was interesting.

heck, I say this project will just get better...

 

I am not a lawyer, so don't flame me, but is a random drawing of a random head (yes, we all know its Menasor) IP of hasbro if it never came to fruition in the TV show or almanacs?? I guess there are always loopholes to say it was or it wasn't. I guess my point is, regardless of what you consider proper "channels" and whether or not it is ever known to us, I believe a simple request in some way shape or form should be made. If I were a new company producing a product, I would NEVER use someone elses work, unless I had their direct permission. Weird Al making Amish Paradise is a perfect example of why this should be done.

Oh, and I am perfectly relaxed and happy with whatever DOES come to fruition   I am simply expressing my thoughts

i am pretty sure if the drawing comes from a current/past employee, it's conflict of interest. I've signed legal contracts in the art field specifically stating I won't/can't use/share any ideas or similarities to the things I did with/for those companies.

haha..well... You can't argue with the designer who created the world these guys are hoping to be a part of..haha..

However, keeping people talking about their work, either love or hate is working pretty well.

Now, just waiting to see how the rest of the trailer will come out is a whole other story...
