NP. The main site also has a search function that would help you out with the other parts. Just search for TFC Hercules. :lol  j/k

    CDMW-29 Herc Purple Barrel

It's hilarious to see the 3rd party making 3rd party stuff for 3rd party figures...Should we call it the 4th party? Any way Crazy Devy to the rescue as they answer some of us Mega-threaders who wanted Hercules to have a purple barrel for Madblender (Mixmaster). If they pull off creating a green shovel for Neckbreaker (Bonecrusher) then I'm sure the our uptake will be even greater.

Okay, onto the purple barrel (CDMW-29)

It just arrived today in a bubble mailer, typical card with bubble packaging consistent with other CD releases.

I have to admit I was expecting a barrel in 2-halves, so I was surprised to see 8 parts...how will they attach?

It turns out you take the original green barrel, remove two screws each (16 screws total) and replace the green shell with the purple shell. In some ways this is nice, because now you have additional purple weapons but in other ways it prevents one from easily swapping back and forth between the two colors (which I expected, for some reason).

Now you could do a half-green, half-purple barrel...interestingly, you can't do a 'checkerboard' barrel because the tabs are different sizes (inset)

    That's a schwack-load of purple!

Here's Madblender (Mixmaster's) alt-mode...actually has me wishing for some green at the back of the truck instead of purple from the centre part of the wing and black barrel support.

So overall it's a pretty straightforward mod. $15.95 + shipping is a better price than some of their previous offerings, and what is provided has a decent fit/finish, and good color match.

Whether you like the purple barrel or not is up to you. For me, I like the option of looking more like the G1 cartoon, and I'm looking forward to the TFC upgrade with new forarms and separators to allow the treads to fold alongside the shoulders for a full G1-look. At this point the figure will have even better harmony, I think.

That said, I do find the new 'color balance' takes some getting used to, and don't blame TFC for 'going green' the first time around. Really, the 'stock' Hercules is just fine.

So overall a functional upgrade for those that want it...I'm happy with it, and I can always go back.

Hmm...the purple barrel looks okay. You are right that it takes some getting used to and it is a lot of purple. I think it would look better if it was broken up by silver thighs on Herc. But it sounds like the purple matches pretty well?

    Thanks for the pics

The original green looks better imo...and do I dare say that I prefer the black bucket and plow on Exgraver and Neckbreaker... :poke

So it's hard to tell from the pics, but is it an EXACT color match to TFCs purple?..I can tell it looks at least really close, but I'm unsure if it's PERFECT...

Definitely a pain to have to switch skins when mixing it up, but it's exactly what I expected them to do as its the cheaper route...is it possible to snap all the pieces together around the center bar w/o screwing them to the base pieces?

Definitely too much purple...the body part under the purple drum needs to be green and the thighs need to be either grey or black...

If its a perfect color match, I'll get it, even though I've always preferred a green drum, or even a grey, black or white one...it's nice to have options...

Based on the below pic, I'd say it's not quite as saturated (or it could be a finish or plastic type issue) as TFC's, but it probably is the right shade of purple. You can see the difference clearly, since the drum is over a purple part.

The original color stands out a bit, but the drum doesn't look out of place.

*edit* Noted below: color correction software was used, so the above pic may not adequately demonstrate the color difference.

Hm. I was sort of skeptical about the demand for a purple mixing drum in the first place... now that I see pictures, I'm pretty unimpressed. I'm not sure what was wrong with the green in the first place, but I don't think the purple is an improvement. I think the black shovel is more of an issue on Neckbreaker. The black treads I can accept because it allows Herc's forearms to match... but in the case of the Rage of Hercules upgrade forearms, I think I'd rather have green treads on NB.

(not that I'm planning on buying that set, because I like the integration of the original transformation, but it does look nice)

An important thing about my pictures is that I did a color correction because the lighting wasn't great (need a light box) so the mis-match is slightly enhanced. I just compared the gun barrels, wings and hands to the CD barrel. Even TFC has color-drift. One of my previous jobs was specing and matching colors of plastic, so I can see that the CD barrel is very slightly darker, but can also say its a good match given they don't have the original TFC resin.

Unfortunately you can't attach the barrels to the post without first screwing in the black TFC parts...it's too bad as that is also what I would have preferred, GI Eddie!

I'll take a non-corrected photo of all the purple parts together for everyone tomorrow.

Once again, I am a sucker for all things Hercules. I haven't bought this set yet, but I will get either this or wait for the inevitable TFC version. Personally, I greatly prefer the green barrel, but as both Eddie and I have said numerous times, variety is one thing that makes Herc so much fun. I like being able to mix and match so much for different looks.

[Man, I seriously can't get away from this thread!]

You can get by with that crazy talk for the scoop bucket, but for the blade...

Now then, just try and tell me this doesn't look better.

Hells yeah! Now that is what I'm talking about!

Seriously, TFC needs to put this in their next add-on kit (along with the purple barrel pieces of course).

An attachment piece that holds Mad Blender's barrel on his back that looks more G1 over his head. Leo5192 (sorry, I know I got the number wrong) did a custom piece that held the barrel on his back quite nicely, but they could make it be a whole piece that would replace the middle chest shield part that looked a lot more G1.

    It does. It really does.

Yeah, that would be a good idea for an upgrade part. I have to admit, I'm a little dissatisfied with Mixmaster's lack of a G1-style overhead unit and proper mixing drum position. Ditto Zeitgeist's suggestion about a better place to mount the double guns.
