I feel as if 3rd parties are focusing too much on G1 with MPs, combiners that don't do scramble city (which varies from which company), reimaginings, etc.

I get G1 is what mostly everyone is mostly associated with. Sure some are doing figures based on BW, IDW, or WoC/FoC but I would like to see someone do something based on other continuities like RiD 2001 or Unicron Trilogy.

Heck, I'm really excited on how Maketoys will take on Cybertron/Galaxy Force Starscream.

I dunno, maybe it's just me sick of seeing the same characters being done over and over again by different companies.

    Nope.

It's been abundantly clear for years that that's where the main interest is, and subsequently, is the most profitable for these unofficial outfits doing their (questionable) thing on a manufacturing level.

I don't think so at all. As mentioned that's where the interest, and therefore money is. Clearly this is only my opinion, but I have no interest in anything but G1 and IDW stuff. Only now are the BW fans finally getting a bit of their due and I expect we will see more 3P BW offerings as the official stuff rolls out. As for the other lines, I highly doubt you'll see a ton of 3P offerings any time soon.

Agreed. G1 and IDW seem to generate the most interest and coolest designs.

I wouldn't know or care because I only pay attention to the G1 stuff.

Nope, they aren't doing too much of it, it's that other 3rd party companies are emerging and doing more different choices, plus idw is starting to get a special treatment, the reason so many 3rd parties are doing g1, is because fans have wanted the dream toy, and they give us that.

I would agree! how many different versions of the same characters do you need? I think they'll eventually cancel one another out and move on to different projects. The G1 train has to stop at some time!

I'm all for Beast Wars, Armada, etc!

    More like MP over G1.
What generation are we up to now anyway?

The old g1 toys that were available way back when had terrible articulation, and didn't resemble the characters as they were depicted on tv/comics. G1 benefits the most from being updated.

Before 3p exploded, we complained that there wasn't enough g1 mp releases. Now, there are complaints that there is too much of it. I think I'd rather have the latter.

I'm not sure that the beast wars generation of kids A, suffers from the nostalgia effect as heavily and B, on average just now hitting the expendable income stage in life. I imagine it's demand based like everything else.

Plus, all of those other series were just reiterations (reincarnations?) of the same names slapped on sometimes random bodies. If you take all of the g1 characters and subtract them from the other lines, you're not really left with much in the way of original characters.

The 3Ps do enough variations on G1 now to keep it interesting without mucking about in XYZ line of transformers that you know they'd never finish anyway.

Show me some evidence there is a demand for 3rd party or even first party toys of rid2001 or Unicron trilogy characters.

Nope, and Takara is partly to blame because they can't get a whole roster out fast enough.

Folks that are tired of g1 or g1 inspired should just realize they are in the minority right now. 80s kids typically have more disposable income than 90s kids and are currently interested in collecting. Your day may come, but give it another 10 years. Takara is testing the waters, so it will happen, eventually.
