Thought I'd start a thread for this one, since it doesn't exist, but I saw this on the Facebook page of the one of the designers of Backdraft...

So I looked, and here is the Grapple prototype:

wow MMC this looks great! although, I kinda prefer the chunkier cab/robot chest area on MT's version of this character.

 

How old is this picture if it says TF-Con, I'm guessing its from last year

 

It's just a picture of OX Backdraft that MMC released for TFCon Charlotte in October. The same pic is in that thread.

 

October 2015, from TFcon USA. As I state in the first post there was a picture of MMC's Grapple variant labeled as Vulcan back in the Third Party Panel, so I started it's own threads.

No, if you look closely, you'll notice it has Grapple's head and crane instead of the Inferno-like head and ladder. Also, there is no hose on it's leg. It's Grapple. They snuck it into the TFcon panel mislabeled, and no one noticed.

 

I'm hoping the legs are better articulated than MT's sumo-croucher. If it is MMC have a sale.

I hope this becomes a reality. I love MMC and Grapple is one of my favorite Autobots. I think MT did a good job on their version but I absolutely hate the face sculpt on it.

 

I kind of wish they wouldn't just do their version of stuff that's already been released by at least two competitors in recent days. Go do some other figure else that no one else is doing right now, then come around and hit this figure in a year or so when people who bought the MT or the other one will have some budget and maybe be interested in an even better version of this same figure. Plus in the meantime we get other more unique and exciting MMC figures. Everybody wins.

 

Now that Maketoys have their Grapple and Inferno out, I'd think one of the other companies would try something different by starting with Hauler or Artfire versions, since even people who are happy with the Maketoys figures might get Artfire and Hauler decos.

 

This is perfect! I'm planning on XTBs for Inferno and MMC for Grapple.

 

Then you can get the eventual MakeToys Artfire.

 

nice, sneaky sneaky. that's definitely grapple labeled with the old Backdraft name(Vulcan).

I was sceptical about the OX line they were doing at first, but Mirage turned out great, and ravage looks amazing(waiting for mine still), and inferno/grapple look good.

We actually need one more company making these characters, that way people can buy an Inferno, Grapple, Artfire and Hauler each from different companies.

 

The more I see this mold, the more I find myself appreciating the cleaner, less chunky aesthetics. Combine that with an engaging transformation, and these have my interest.

One major question though: How long are we going to have to wait for these?

 

Backdraft is supposedly going to be out mid-April. Grapple hasn't even been (officially) announced yet or given a name, so I imagine it's at least a couple months beyond that.

 

I thought for sure I was going with XTB, but this guy looks aces. The nice thing is it looks good and should hopefully have decent QC. I have Sphinx and he's a pretty solid dude and looks great. If this guy delivers like I think he will, MMC will really start making a name for themselves with the Ocular Max brand.

 

I'm looking forward to more info on this. Grapple has always been a fav of mine (along with his pal Hoist). This looks to be a great rendition of the character.
