First off let me start with the obligatory sorry if this is being discussed elsewhere; merge, move, lock, etc.. if needed. I did use the search function, but didn't come up with anything.

So MP-27 Ironhide is out in the wild (mine should be delivered today), and I'm wondering if any third-party companies plan on releasing mod packages for him. Like so many, I love the look of the figure, but despise those damn hip flaps. The tire-butt doesn't really bother me so much, but that hip kibble really kills the MP look of the figure for me.

I've already seen where several customizers have come up with solutions to move the hip panels up onto his torso. Some use parts-forming, others use new custom parts to achieve this. I've also seen where said customizers have trimmed down the crotch to make it look a little more proportionate, and again maintained transformability.

I would love for some enterprising third-party to release a mod kit that would allow for the hip panels to move up into the torso and reduce the crotch/diaper size. If those two things could be achieved I feel MP-27 would indeed be a true masterpiece interpretation of the character. So what are the odds? I've heard it argued that most third-parties would not want to touch this because it would involve customers actually disassembling their figure. However, Shadow Fisher is already planning to release that arm shortening mod for MP-10 that involves some disassembly, so the precedent is there. Would you buy them?

This one really solves a lot of the figures problems. It moves the hip panels up into his torso, which also helps with the figure's profile. It also moves the rear wheels from his butt into that gap in his lower back, which in my opinion looks quite a bit better. Lastly it reduces the crotch size. The end product looks amazing, though I'm sure those swing arms are fiddly.

Right, I was aware of both VooDoo and TFC's full figures. I'm just hoping for an upgrade/mod kit for the official MP-27.

 

Saw the mod. Would pay cash money. Would fix the only issues I have with the figure.

 

I know, it really takes the figure from mediocrity to masterpiece. Sure someone will comes to poor Ironhide's aid!

 

yeah it desperately needs that upgrade...Basically it needs two parts.A new front part of the vehicle and a new waist..Its a cool mod but it doesnt fix the big waist issue or the front bumper one

 

I think the mod least it shows that the crotch can be replaced easily enough. I also hope that there will be covers for the peg holes in the arms.

Not sure if they hip panel can be changed easily like this mod, but who knows. It's still a bit early, so right now, the ideas are as rough as this mod. I also hope Reprolabels will cut down on how plain the legs look.

 

I would buy that upgrade kit in a heartbeat.

 

Well we will obviously get new hands from a 3rd party. And yes if they think they can mod something and get money they will. With as many complaints about the panels, I'm sure some third party will come up with something.

Yep, had that been the design from the start, I'd be on-board for the official release.

With the mods, he is still left with some disproportionate dimensions, though.
(He has an extremely flat butt now instead of the tire butt)

That could have been improved upon if they had designed it this way from the start.

I feel like this mod is an excellent proof of concept if nothing else. I would hope for a mass produced upgrade kit to have more robust parts. Not to mention whoever makes this would get to immediately release it again for Ratchet and any future repaints. Fingers crossed.

 

Maybe a KO company will adopt that mod...and add a new head.

Really? I like the legs because they look just as bad as in the cartoon. And the faces are simply amazing. Maybe the best headsculpts of the entire MP line. His ass and hips on the other hand...

The silver thighs aren't like the cartoon they have that weird cut in the side that makes them oddly proportioned. Plus, none of the prior Masterpiece figures have settled for perfectly matching the cartoon. The legs are just entirely too plain as is. I'd at least like a Repolabels set that breaks up the solid red & silver.

the face is far from perfect, but i can live with it as is.
however those those weird ugly legs do not allow me to press "buy now" button, though usually i buy original MPs

i might reconsider if simple KO will be released for a lesser price, but i do hope someone somehow will fix the legs at least
