I know Beast Machines wasn't too popular and therefore a lot of people might pass, but this is a definite buy for me. I really enjoyed all of the beast-era shows, and I'd love to have some updated figures.

I'm in for Obsidian, IMO an underappreciated character.

Anybody else thinking that this mold is going to be IDW Whirl too?

They would be insane not too. Looks like a definitely mold for a retool for Whirl.

I would absolutely lose my shit for an IDW Whirl.

I actually really like this. I was a huge fan of the smaller official figure and this looks waaaay better. Now I wish I bought a few Tank drones. Hope it's Voyager ish.

Zero interest but glad to see them producing even less-popular characters so those who are interested can own the figure!

Beast Machines is my favorite Series and this is not that version of Obsidian.

Knowing MMC the figure will be great but just not for me

Nice, but I think he needs skinnier legs. Head is off. And I'm not sure about the giant gears in place of blades. Maybe when I see a physical toy I'll feel differently. Also, would kinda a prefer a more green one. Yeah, I know he was more blue in the show. But to me, I think of him in toy colors.

Not the exact shows design no but their is no other version of Obsidian character-wise outside of toy redecos and this design is primarily based on beast machines as it is teal and red and has a hover mode just like in the series.

I do believe mmc will tweak his final base color as although he was teal in the animation it was a very dark desaturated teal that came off looking very grey. And they know people always get iffy with their color choices so they should be well aware they need to at least consider bringing his saturation way down before they start making test shots. :lol

Looks like it could be a very cool mold, either as Obsidian or MTMTE Whirl. Definitely one to keep an eye on.

I love it, both as Obsidian and the potential retool into Whirl.

I loved the show in it's run and thought Obsidian and Strika were awesome.

I do enjoy Hasbro's G1-esque and accepted his cybertronian style was a little too extreme to do neatly as a mass market toy, but I'm sure MMC could pull it off.

I don't think they'll reuse this as Whirl, but I see this as a Rotorstorm to fall in line with their Wrecker stand ins.

I think this will take a huge amount of retooling to be MTMTE Whirl in my eyes. Alex Milne's Whirl is very thin, sleek and curvy and I don't think this mold can pull it off (just as I don't think MMC's Cyclonus can pull off a MTMTE look). He just might however be a great "pre-MTMTE" Whirl that will look awesome on my Wreckers shelf.

Heck, I'd double down on Whirls if MakeToys produced a MTMTE version for their Manga Mecha series.
