I was inspired by the CHUG Shockwave Poll, so I wanted to do one with OPtimus

While Optimus has always been a popular toy for Hasbro/Takara to dish out, if anyone is like me, we have yet to get our ideal Optimus prime Figure.

3rd Party companies have also made a few, the most successful in my opinion being Toyworld Orion. However, I just couldn't get into it with him. He was too big, too stiff, and for me, he was a bit of a hassle to transform. So I wasn't really satisfied with him.

So I wanted anyone who shared my views on this subject to talk about our ideal Optimus Prime Figure.

Personally for me, ideally, I would want a Voyager Sized Optimus (Somewhere between the classics and the Combiner wars Optimus). Understandable, maybe even fun transformation, look relatively G1 or IDW-ish, relatively good posability (naturally), to have NON cheating chest windows (That bugs me so much), and to as an added bonus, have a chest compartment that opened to reveal a matrix accessory. An extra EXTRA bonus would be compatibility with the G3 FP Trailer or just his own. As for that, I wouldn't really care if he turned into a flat Mac truck or a more modern version, similar to TF Prime.

i've done a few other the years as just fan art but really all I want is something close to Classics Prime minus the door wings on the arms. the rest of that design is possibly the best mix of toy and display peace we've had.

I getcha. Honestly, that is pretty close to what I want, but with chest compartment with a matrix accessory.

I would like them to follow with how they did Classics Optimus but maybe a bit taller and more articulation and less kibble. Also Smoke Stack shoulders would be great and i'd also like a less weird looking alt mode.

Henkei is still my favorite Optimus for CHUG. Ways it could improve would be to make it a little larger, add more articulation, change the hands so they look better, remove the arm kibble while still keeping the transformation relatively simple, and add an assembly in the chest to store a matrix.

Well, the Henkei version is ideal for the CHUG collection.

However, if we're talking about IDW then that's another story. I think the rumoured Powermaster Optimus that Hasbro is planning could pull that off nicely.

I'd like an IDW-styled Prime that is around TW Orion's height (maybe a few millimeters taller at most)

I'm still waiting. Toyworld's orion would be perfect for me but they won't reissue him alone. I just want an IDW Optimus

Now this is in part because I've a mixed collection that is based around CHUG toys, so take it with a grain of salt... (my general rule is carformer=deluxe, everything else scales from that^^)

For me, an Ultra class (or the new Leaderclass, as that's generally the same height) Optimus Prime is the perfect size. My current Optimus is an iGear Faith Leader, though I've debated a new version once or twice... For me, Voyager is too small, and Leaderclass/MP10 sized is too big^^

More like G1 but modern, no unnecessary arm or leg kibble... I have MP-10, but if they made a Leader Class with G1 characteristics, like they did Megatron, i would consider getting it.

Classics Prime molds (Voyager and Deluxe) fall kind of flat for me, the Deluxe needed collapsible legs and a much better cab, the voyager has too much kibble. The CW Prime just looks like ass in bot mode...

What i would consider buying would be G1, but if Hasbro made a true IDW Prime like that 3P Orion figure in Leader Class, I'd add that all day to my Prime collection.

Voyager is fine, largeish with a modern alt...not fussed about trailer or matrix though both'd be cool...basically I'm fine with Classics Voyager Optimus...

TW Orion is pretty close to ideal for me. Transformation is a bit of a pain, but I love the aesthetic, love the fact that there is minimal false kibble, and the articulation is solid. I don't care about trailer, so that isn't an issue. The size is about perfect for my collection. It would probably be hard for another Optimus homage to top Orion for me.

Even with a near-decade of mold wear making it not as totally on the same level as the original, my "Evolutions of Optimus" version of the Classics Prime mold kicks so much ass it's not even funny. The only things I would ask for to improve it are wrist swivels, ankle tilts, ball joint head, and an axe/trailer hitch accessory. And maybe an Autobot logo on the shoulder that doesn't look like it got shot in the forehead :lol

As close to this as possible. Voyager class should be adequate.

That in an Ultra class would be perfect though. A Megs and Shockwave in Ultra would also make the world a better place. For now though, Classics OP with modded arms is king.

For now, TW Orion with Renderform head is close to ideal. He's a head taller than voyager figures like Silverbolt, FOC Blaster, iGear Ironhide and Ratchet which are one head taller than deluxe cars. Also, He's about one head shorter than leader class Ultra Magnus. So from scale point of view, no other OP is better than Orion.
