I've figured out what I'm going to do. It'll be expensive up front, but I'll be able to make a good portion of my money back...

I'll buy all the 3rd party sets, keep what I want out of each of them, sell off the rest.

I have Green Giant...he's an amazing MP Devastator IMO. You can look at him and go "That's Devastator taken to the next level" and know who the character is off that bat.

The problem is, the bot mode of each don't look like the toon characters to me. *This* is why I'm thinking of getting the UW version from Takara when it comes out. It sorta sucks to have to have both to get what I want but I figure I'll display the individual toons and Green Giant in Devastator mode behind them.

That being said, it does annoy me to keep getting those PE kits to fix things that look like TT skipped on. This will probably be my last UW/CW set for that exact reason. I shouldn't feel I have to do that on each set I get

Well, Perfect Effect PC-06 is by far the better looking kit here. Especially since they changed it so it hides Long Hauls hands on Devy.

The Mixmaster replacement on DNA looks horribly squashed.

Gawd so many 3rd party upgrades, which one to get, hmm... which one indeed? I got it... NONE!!!
There's nothing wrong with Titan Devastator. Go make your own knockoff version.

    What don't you get? Math?

    $150 - $220 + add-on set = Big, badass Devy for a max of $300

Toyworld, or Gravity Builder = $600

Some people just can't afford to spend an extra $300.

What's so hard to understand about that?

EDIT - I misinterpreted you're argument because I skimmed your post too quickly, XIII. Sorry. I thought you were saying an upgraded CW was pointless when TW and GB gave you better, but far more expensive options.

I also don't think Giant and Herc are comparable to this group of Huge new Devvies, though.

Because Hercules and Giant are already out there, and their prices have dropped down to around that $300 mark.

Those are totally different products, that fit into different collections (CHUG only), and IMO look pretty dated in comparison to all the newest options, CW included.

I currently own all three, the CW one has grown on me a lot. He is a great toy, and he certainly brings a lot to the table in terms of size and value. I can appreciate the value of upgrading it. However, I'd still be hard-pressed to say he's a better figure than Herc or Giant, and I was simply pointing out that there are other options than TW's or GT's offerings when it comes to 3P Devastators.

That's my bad. I actually misinterpreted XIII's comment earlier (sorry, XIII!)

But I'd still argue that Giant and Herc aren't really comparable options to the group made up of an upgraded CW Dev, TW's or GB's... unless you're buying a "standalone" Devastator.

Since so many cost-cutting compromises were deliberately incorporated into Hasbro's Titan Devastator design, then it only makes sense that some ingenuitive people would seize on the opportunity to both earn some profit, and try to meet the high standards of finicky TF fan-collectors. The 3P's are sure to make a nice profit, fixing the stupid, cheap, lazy, & knowingly-planned, flaws of Hasbro's Titan Devastator. Good for them!

Like many here, I cannot and will not be able to spend the hefty, albeit worthwhile, sum the 3P Devy's demand. With real-world, & familial responsibilities, $600.00+ is much too rich a price for me. The HasTak version, however wanting, is not a complete waste. There are some good design features in Hasbro's Devastator, as well as size, and very close cartoon-accuracy, for the most part. That has always been the enigma of Hasbro's Titan Devastator; he is so very close to being an excellent mass-release retail figure, yet falls short in important details like having proper elbows, pinned wheels, and a more G1 MixMaster.

The Takara version promises to fix most of these particular issues, so I eagerly look forward to finally owning one of my own by the year's end. The only thing that Takara's version does not address, is MixMaster's stubbornly peculiar design-aesthetic deviance. One of these 3P cab-covers will take care of that problem easily. I'd only need that cab-cover piece to make myself a perfectly acceptable Titan Constructicon team; now which one should I choose?
