See, if Grimlock is Grinder, the other Dinobots should have been called Submarine (Sludge), Hoagie (Snarl), Wedge (Slag), Hero (Swoop) Torpedo (Paddles).

 

Honestly, this looks no busier than Snarl's greys. A lot of the detail in the line art will be muted by the material once it's on the prototype.

it's a piece of line art, not even a 3D render. sure people have the right to voice their concern, but we all knew that any rescaled Grimlock would heavily borrower from MP-8 as it's a largely solid and workable design. I'm not going to light my torch over the aesthetics quite yet, but I'll agree that this drawing doesn't appear to have noticeably improved over the the massive shoulder issue MP-8 had (which is also part of it's great alt-mode look/posability).

Go back and look at the line art of Sever folks. It'll give some perspective on how far the drawings are from the final product and maybe it'll take the edge off the urge to jump to judgment.

A little too much angle on the chest but other than that I think he looks great. Arms and legs look as good if not better than MP-08 (which suffered from having very thin thighs).

I don't think line art details are what people are taking the most issue with. Many of the general shapes are off. Sever's art still had mostly the same shapes that showed up in the proto and production version.

 

Exactly. Why does he have semi cylinders on his shins? Why is his chest sloped like that?

 

Yeah, not sure where people are getting that details are the major complaints. The chest is poorly proportioned and oddly shaped. The waist is ridiculously tiny in comparison to the massive chest. Details in the drawing are certainly not my issue with it.

 

So sick of all this third party crap.

It looks like the shoulder height is adjustable? That would a huge plus cause I hate the MP-8 shoulders being so high.

 

I've seen a few comments of FB about ppl saying they prefer Giga and are waiting for theirs. Considering this looks like one of their designs that's hilarious.

 

Agreed the details are not what I was referring too. Of course the lines are going to be overly exaggerated on a technical line drawing. I can look past that, but it's the over all design aesthetics and proportions that just doesn't match the Cartoon inspired designs of of the others. I'm not saying this is a terrible design by any means it looks big and imposing like Grimlock should.
