Couldn't find a post about it, so I thought I'd create one.

Looks like MMC's site has been updated, with Kultur having (at the time of writing), an 8" Bot Mode.

    Get Hype!

Ok, so, first and foremost: super pumped for this. Tarn has a fantastic design in the comics, and I look forward to seeing what MMC has come up with here.

That said: really, MMC? How's about actually releasing some stuff before showing off even more projects? You've still not released the second wave of your femmebots (not a mold I enjoy, but I know a lot of fans did). You just now got not-Vos out the door. You haven't shown anything new on not-Kaon in ages, you've barely moved in the proto phase for Seraph, you've still got not-Turmoil and not-Impactor in the pipe, you displayed a second femmebot mold, plus you've started showing off this Masterpiece scale line with that Mirage (another line I have zero interest in, but I know a lot do).

Enough is enough. Your fans love your designs, but you actually need to release stuff if you want to be a toy company. Don't get me wrong, I'll be first in line to buy almost all of the products you've teased when you actually get around to producing them. But it's getting hard to take you seriously when you keep piling on more and more projects without finishing any.

Slow down! Take the time to actually get a few items out, and then move on to the next set. Love your ambition, but it's killing you slowly.

That's not how the product development cycle works. It's a pipeline, not one thing at a time. They've produced plenty to prove themselves worthy contributors to the scene.

Honestly? They would do well to shelve most of the stuff you just mentioned in order to prioritize Tarn. They need to strike while the iron is hot, so to speak, while the character is so popular and currently appearing in the comics.

It's also a project they would have zero competition on.

Never said they weren't worthy contributors. I love the MMC products I own. As far as I'm concerned, their releases thus far are among the premiere toys in the 3p market.

As for your other comment, that's actually my point. Their pipeline is so full that NOTHING is getting done. It's completely possible to have too many projects going on, making it difficult to focus enough on any one of them to get anywhere. Maybe that's changing, and we're just starting to see the beginning of a phase of releases. But that's not historically how they operate.

They have a reputation as being the slowest major 3p out there. Why? Because they show stuff off WAY to early in the development cycle. It's great to get fans excited, but that only carries so far.

This is actually my point as well. Without knowing how MMC distributes their resources, it's easy to get the feeling, as I noted above, that they have too much on their plate. I'm urging them to do exactly what you've stated here. Pick something and make it a priority to finish that project. I would love it to be Tarn. or Seraph. Or whatever. Their focus feels too scattered. And again, I say that with no real knowledge of their production side, just what appears to be the case from their marketing side.

Here's hoping that they give him a somewhat more practical looking tank mode. Ditto for the big guys too.

Again . . . I don't believe you know how the toy making process works.

Design is done on paper, in CAD, and eventually with prototypes and test shots of various materials.

When a design finishes one phase, it goes off to the factory for test shots and eventual mass production. A designer at home is done with his work on that project once the factory has it.

As you can imagine (but apparently don't realize?) physical production of test shots and mass release items does not occur instantly. It takes time.

While the factory is dicking around with that shit, would you like the designer to take a bigass nap? Or cone of silence, not show us what he's doing in the meantime (more designing).

Additionally, there are things like instructions, boxes, inner packaging that all need to be printed and assembled with the completed figures. Again, all that takes time, time during which designers can work on other designs in CAD or art. Nothing really wrong with showing us that.

They could be like FansProject and show us nothing at all until retail releases are already on a boat to stores. you want that instead? Cool

Currently, we know for a fact that one factory just finished PSX's first run of Cynicus, another factory is working on the second run of Cynicus.

There are two fembot repaints right behind them.

We saw a physical prototype of another DJD member, as well as a new prototype of Seraph Prime.

MMC ain't perfect, but they ARE working. Sorry if you dont get that.

You're right, I DON'T know anything about the toy making process. Which is why I voiced an opinion. Didn't know there were tons of toy making professionals on the board just waiting to attack!

So fine, I know nothing, and you're all right. MMC hasn't done anything to make me dislike them, but their fans sure have.

But yeah, I'd rather they do it Fansproject's way. At least then it doesn't feel like they're sitting on projects for three years doing nothing, making no progress on anything.

That said, after I've made some additions to my ignore list, you can all go on back to your attacking.

Wonder if they're pre-planning an alternate head based on what's currently looking to be the most likely bet as to the face under his mask.

(I have to imagine the head will be the last bit to be finalized though given we'll probably see the face under the mask in the next 6 months or so)

I'm excited for this team, but, I've gotta say, something about the head sculpt shown in this teaser image bugs me. It just seems a bit overly square in shape and those.. vent-things (whatever they are) that sit on both sides of his faceplate look too big. I only point these things out because I hold MMC to a higher standard than most third-party companies due to the high quality of their products, and consequently find myself a bit more hung up on minor details such as the two I mentioned.

A big part of what makes Tarn's design so great is that eerie mask, and I really want its sculpt to be spot-on for the final toy. That said, it's very possible that the sculpt will change down the line, and maybe it's simply the angle of the picture not doing it justice. Even if it doesn't change, it'll probably be a fantastic figure overall given MMC's track record. Here's hoping he comes out sooner rather than later.
