Based on Chigurh, it's likely to have one weird-looking jet mode.

Agreed, was very "flimsy" but for the price and the whole of no blitzwing, i couldnt complain. I would say "sold" on this, but im still not "sold" on astrotrain lol

As always, I'm optimistic it will meet my personal MP standard. I've always liked his design. The available Astrotrains look great in certain modes, but leave me wanting elsewhere and neither hits the right bot mode balance for me, unfortunately. Provider/Octane has promise, but color and better pics of the face/wing positions will make a difference. Blitzwing though, has a special place in my heart.

I've got high hopes for this, but we've got to see the damn thing first.

One thing is for sure though: DX9 will always have the best promo/box art.

He looks like his face will look a lot like their Astrotrain (Chugger, spelled wrong I know)

How can you tell from just a picture of his tank mode what his face will look like?

I'm guessing that he thought the pictured robot was Blitzwing in robot mode, rather than Chigurh.

Also: Chugger? Really? It's actually pronounced Chig-errr, he's a character from No Country For Old Men.

After finally getting used to the design and putting a preorder on for their Astrotrain I have reconsidered in hopes of this being as good

I wish you actually didn't correct me or say anything just swap the C for an N and you'll find out why. I think I'll keep calling him Chugger and No Country for Old Men was an awesome movie

As long as tank mode is proper I could almost care less if the jet mode is accurate to his G1 self or goes somewhat afield. Based on how Chigurh came out I'd imagine he will take license with at least one mode, so I'm just praying it's not tank.

That said, at the end of the triple takeover battle royal' between TW and DX9, I personally feel DX9 is the winner. I take no major issues with Evila Star, other than I don't feel TW quite nailed it, but I suppose in many ways neither did DX9. At this point it comes down to taste and which not quite G1 3-changer hits that soft underbelly of fan appeal.

how does that make any sense at all? Why name a space-choo choo after a random movie character?

If you bothered to think about the name of this figure, you'd have found out it comes from 大火车 (Da huo chi), which translates as "big train".

The "chi" part is pronounced "chur" and combined with "ge" in a mandarin accent will give you the first Half of "chur-gur" > chugger.

It's a pretty clever go at word play by a non-native speaker

What do you mean "if I'd bothered to think about the name of the figure?"

How much thinking does it take to turn "Da huo chi" into "Chugger?"

Do you have a quote from DX9 to support that? Because if not, then that makes less sense than him being named after a character from a famous book/movie, especially considering that they even directly copied the rather unusual spelling.

They named him after the sounds they thought that type of train would make when moving. Neither was the reason. It was an onomatopoeia.

Maybe the name is meant to be Blitzwing but it was lost in translation.

    And we got Chigurh.

    Yup.

I do think it's funny people wanted to ascribe deeper reasons to it, and it was really just named after the sounds a 3 year old would make playing with a toy train.

    Hilarious.

I would have preferred Choo-Choo to be honest.

I would definitely buy him if his name was just Choo Choo. Or Chugger.

Chigurh is a weird choice no matter what the reasoning behind it.
