why 9 inches? Are headmasters that much bigger?

I have no nostalgia towards this character nor did I ever imagine I'd want one in my collection.. welp, Maketoys proved me wrong! This figure is stunning.

 

Function X Code is a completely different beast.

The transformation alone makes it worth owning. It's a wonderful piece of engineering. Love the flippling/folding and the way they tuck and hide wheels for a completely clean bot mode with very little sign of what his alt mode was.

This Maketoys version will definitely be in my MP collection, it's beautiful. Can't wait to see it in color.

It looks good, hopefully its a decent price. Maketoys are usually quite over priced for what you get, well minus paladin/chaos.

 

I prefer Code and his headmaster overall, but I have room for another Chromedome.

 

Chromedome is the right size. In us G1 S4 the rebirth series all the headmasters even the smallest are near Optimus Prime's height so 9" is MP scale. That's my favorite episode & I watch it religiously. Finally we have them MP sized. Those who want CHUG sizing have the TW-H or FP selection but let us MP fans rejoice here.

My only concern is how small the Nebulon looks but I will be displaying it in Robot mode anyway so that's cool. But would of been ok with detachable parts to make the head bot alittle taller. But no worries.

The only Headmasters I'd want to be taller than MP-10 are decepticons & known as the Horrorcons headmaster triplechangers: APEFACE & SNAP DRAGON.

The tallest autobot HM should be Hardhead.

They nailed Cupola (not Chromedome) here with the stature & proportions. Alt mode looks sleek also. MT, you are on my list. I hope they sculpt or paint in the power Stats on his chest which would be a nice nostalgia throwback to the vintage toy.

 

I am definately excited for this, Chromedome is one of my favorites, and it miffs me that IDW removed the headmaster"ness".

Chromedome has to be this big also cause when his headmaster is detached, he wont be out of scale. Imagine if this was carbot size then his headmaster would be the size of a baby that Daniel can hold.

 

Who says they've been shelved? Maketoys follows a pretty predictable release schedule. Guardia wasn't going to see the lift of day at least until summer. NO one has been shelved

 

Bravo, Maketoys, you took a character I had no interest in and made it one of the most interesting upcoming releases for the future.

I do wish he was a head smaller or so, I prefer Rebirth scale to the Japanese TF scale, and they were about the same height as Hot Rod in Rebirth.
Aside from that, the only issue I have with the design is the Gundam lower legs. Those knees and shin look straight out of a model kit.

 

Was looking at the head robot again. It is 100% the same transformation as the PE warden head, minus the bigger bot face. Warden has that forehead cover gimmick to conceal the the eyes.

I could be wrong, but I think this one has a slider gimmick. Looks like the eyes, nose and face plate are a separate part that can slide up into the forehead with the eyes/nose ending up hidden.

Can not wait to own this guy. I'm also super happy that MT's did a figure FP already did. gives me hope that they are going to continue this line and not be scared away due previous 3p offerings already on the market.

 

These are the guys who made MTMTE Swerve (shitty) and Tailgate (amazing) right? Why would they make another boring G1 Chromedome instead of a MTMTE one to fit?

3rd parties just keep saturating the markets with same-y, generic figures, God damn.

 

Looks like MT went with the Japanese Headmaster design for the head, rather than the Rebirth version. I wonder if they'll do that style, if they decide to do Brainstorm and the other headmasters down the road.

Either way, this is bought!
