Been back and forth for the past few weeks. I can only afford one and am trying to decide between Maketoys Utopia and their Quantron combiner. I know that Quantron now has replacement parts to fix the flaws so that is not a concern. I don't know if I have enough room to display Utopia though. i've been back-and-forth and back-and-forth and can't decide so I figured I'd ask you guys for your opinions. If you could also tell me why you prefer one over the other, that would be a great help. Thanks!
They are both excellent sets, but I would go for Utopia. It's a real jaw-dropper of a figure. Seriously, sometimes I'll transform it and literally need to step back just to admire it for a moment.
I do not have either, but I'd say Utopia you think combiners you get more bots more modes etc/etc but owning a big bot ( I have Planet X genesis ) is something really special it will be the 3rd party jewel of your collection over Any combiner
I'm still waiting for him to come in, but having Quantron sitting on my work table right now at home, I'd still say Utopia. I have no doubts he lives up to the hype but he just hasn't come in yet for me
I have nothing to add here (I don't have or want either - for a change), but I am surprised at how many people are recommending Utopia. I really thought Titan Metroplex was going to bury it on size and price alone.
Utopia probably the best TF purchase I did so far, He's expensive but you get what you paid for. He's awesome.
Ok so I'm going to be of absolutely no help at all by saying you can't go wrong either way. It's really difficult to know which one has a higher chance of selling out though since we don't really know production or sales numbers. Basically just flip a coin and I promise you'll be happy
This is going to sound challenged/backwards, especially since you asked kindly to recommend one or the other (and I could have very easily just skipped this topic, but ...), but I would recommend neither. These are the reasons: Utopia will be around awhile, trust me. Especially at that price and how many people skipped it due to Hasbro's Metroplex. Likewise, Quantron will be around a long awhile and will probably suffer quite a few price drops (just look at M3 - he stayed around a long while had many price drops on different sites for the figures/set). So take that as you will. Get one/both/none, it's up to you! I would most definitely wait for the super inevitable price drops though.
I think a lot of people felt that way, but once he finally started hitting, people have seen just how much more complex, detailed, and versatile he is. Titan metroplex to Utopia is like the 3 step changer to a voyager class figure.
As someone who owns both I have to say while I love Quantron and while he has more overall "play factor" he did ultimately disappoint me a bit while Utopia just hit everything out of the park for me and imo is a way better overall thing worth owning. And this is coming from someone who is extremely picky when it comes to design and build quality. He's set a new standard for large figure joints and posability and is easily the best big transformer ever made to date and has absolutely convinced me I need every city bot mt ever puts out going forward. I cannot overstate how excited I am to have more figures like Utopia. If I ever have to choose between a combiner set and another MT figure like Utopia in the future the city bot is always going to win. I don't think either will come down in price and Utopia is going to sell faster than many cynics assume come next year when peoples finances have recouped.
