New factory for the ox / mp line.

 

Overlord isn't until 2020 (if they rush it) so that helps.

 

Maybe I shouldn't have looked through all of the TFCon pics, because it now has me wondering how much next year is gonna cost me.

 

I looked at the differences again, and there is a lot of work needed on mmcs to be mp. I like MMCs work, don't get me wrong. I just think there are things that need to be addressed. so far dx9 looks better, even with it's flaws.

here is a picture comparison to illustrate differences.

issues I have with MMCs:
1. the sides of the body are not flush with the middle of the body.
2. the engines look like lego.
3. the front of the cockpit is flattened, not rounded
4. the shape seems boxy in places where it should seem rounded
5. the wheels don't have the correct hubcaps/rims
there may be more, but i'm not looking for anymore. there are enough issues where this does not feel on par with mp for my tastes.

DX9 is not perfect either, but i feel it better captures the G1 look of mirage in alt form, thus far.

like i said in a previous post, these are (I assume) early renders and could change.

All of that is accurate.... Buuuuuuuut... Robot mode is king... Whoever scores in robot mode is getting my $$. Car mode will see the light of day once or twice.

 

Personally not sure how I feel. I want takara MP Mirage, but... I think they are making this line fun for transformation and I actually like the alt mode, so if price is ok, I may reconsider for this figure only. Let's see bot mode.

 

From that little picture in the bottom right corner he looks like he will be better in bot mode than DX9 but DX9 looks like he will be better in Alt mode

 

That's my impression too. Hard to tell with such a small pic, tho.

Need to see more asap considering there is direct competition out there. Sounds promising as long as the robot mode isn't all puffed up like most of their latest work.

 

Yeah same here. Although they have a good rep for quality/price, every MMC figure I've seen so far has taken too many liberties or been overdetailed with grills and vents... so hopefully if they are indeed starting an 'MP' subline they will change their house-design style accordingly.

Yeah to me the DX9 alt mode is the better, at the moment. It's bot mode that will be the decider here.

Isn't that just artwork though?

 

Guys, this is not going to be following the same exact mp style that takara does, it is a mix of oz / mp based, and mmc already stated this, thus maybe a bit more anime.

A pic of the bot mode prototype will give an idea where this is going. Until then, hard to say, but i still hope it can look nice with other mp cars.

 

I realize they'll be following their own style to a degree, but if he doesn't fit with the other Autobot cars I won't be getting this. If they make other groups that use the blended Ox/MP style that might be okay (such as say, another combiner, or Reflector), but since we already have a lineup of official cars, an unofficial figure shouldn't stick out in that group (IMHO).

And this comes from a guy who displays Feral Rex with his MPs. Of course in the case of the Predacons their animation models are so ugly that deviations from them help a lot!

Another MPish Mirage?


Wow.

 

Rubber tires or an easy pass for me. I can easily forgive rubber tires on all there autobots / car transformers EXCEPT Mirage since the tires so make up so much of his alt mode.

 

Hope they will be able to change the "ell" to "elf" for the release.
