They should sell the art outright and use the money to help build a fund.

Heck, people will pay for Aaron Archer's bar napkin scribblings.

Hah, I was the one who pledged for it, I usually don't buy art (prefer to buy toys) but I thought it was a nice detailed rendition of Pretender Starscream, almost like a Japanese wood print. If the campaign returns I wouldn't be opposed to pledging for it again.

I don't know if PWTToo would be allowed to sell art to KS members directly when the KS didn't fund, or if they have to wait for another KS and try again... I sort wish they just put a pack of prints on their online store.

    BOOK!

All of the art should be collected and released in a small book to help fund their next Kickstarter project.

Honestly they did say they had "digital content" as a reward. Bios, art, development notes, rpg character sheets. Might be worth printing.

The reason people like Philip Reed make books on Kickstarter is because they need to know a certain number of books will sell before sending them to the printers.

Yeah, it really takes out a lot of guesswork.

If PWTT wants to create a book I would welcome a chat. I've got the printer to do a great job, experience with book design, and am ready to help make such a book happen.

I do not care for non TF characters and nor do I care for Masterforce as it was never on TV and had me addicted when I was a kid, I collected TF Comics and for me the cartoon ended with the US version of Headmasters. If the bulk of fans are this way on the message board then they targeted the wrong group of people for their toys.

These toys were also not huge, but small for my TF collection.

If you compare a toy line to Centurions that makes me MORE interested, not less, but that was my favorite toy line in the day. I still remember biking to Service Merchandise to buy Tidal Blast and a Doom Drone Strafer and smiling all the way. If I can quote from Trent Troop from when this was all introduced... "The line will homage multiple sci-fi and fantasy lines. The first major push takes inspiration from the Pretenders, but that's not all that's coming." I think that an accurate description.

Adding a digibash by Turnman that combines some of the art and the prototype.

Or they can take a hint.

They failed because their niche project was being marketed to the wrong audience. It is what it is.

90% funded is an indication that they were on the right track. With improvement this could succeed. So the only thing left is to see how they improve. Simplify the KS options? Change to a different base character? Wait to get more painted prototypes? We shall see.

It's also run size. Larger companies can sell at lower prices because they can order more. If you place an order for figures, a factory will give you a break in costs for 1,000,000 figures versus 100. Those savings are usually passed down to the consumers.

You ever heard the old saying "You never get a 2nd chance to make a 1st impression?"

PWTT should just throw in the towel and scrap the Lost Protectors and create something geared more towards Transformable robots under a different name.

However just this once, I will indulge...

Heres a few ways PWTT could succeed in a 2nd go around:

    1. Do away with the "hero mashers" concept of interchangeable body parts and make traditional action figures. It's cheaper. Most high end toy collectors display their figures, not play with them. Playability is not a must have.

    2. Find a theme and stick with it. Then go after that fandom on their fan sites. Dont market MOTU or Diablo to TF fans or vice-verca. Knowing these silly repaints exist throw off the hardcore fans from taking the original seriously.

    3. If you're going to push to the TF crowd make the robots the focal point, not the pretender shells. It should have been the tech drones that had full articulation. Instead of the action figures, PWTT should have created helmets and armor that snap on to the tech drone to make it look like the 1980's pretenders shells. Like Maiden Japan did for ROTF Bludgon.

    4. Forget the stupd stretch goals. Focus on maybe 2 figures and lower the goal of the Kickstarter to like $50,000. Some of the repaints were really ridiculous. And the head shots were even worse. An Easter Island Moai ? A MLP Unicorn ? A Wizzard of Oz talking tree ? Give me a break...

    5. Don't keep releasing a barrage of daily artwork to try and get fans to buy into the project. It looks desperate and is a turn off to fans trying to decide whether to pledge or not. Show what will be available the very first day, then let the project sink or swim.

    6. Cut ties with BMOG. Those figures are the stupidest little things I have ever seen. Especially the platypus of death. BBTS bought up the leftover stock of the green and black bear/manta ray sets and they are in the warehouse gathering dust. (Black: 22 in stock - Green: 24 or more in stock) It's no wonder BBTS chose not to pledge the final $10,000 and save the Lost Protectors.

    7. Consider forgeting about Kickstarter altogether, and financing a smaller less ambitious project for the faithful fans. Maybe PWTT can spend $30,000-40,000 out of their own pockets and make Skullgrin a reality. Artwork doesn't create loyal repeat buyers, plastic does.
