Yep! That's a lot of why I made the thread. Things seem to be trending in that direction with other companies.

Larger and bulky is a neat idea at first. But after handling Rex and Giant side by side I would prefer smaller and better balance. The size and weight is really nice on the individual Feralcons, but I think it has a lot to do with the issues of the combined mode.

Having played with Quantron for a couple of weeks, I really prefer that size to MMC Feral Rex size. Feral Rex is such a chore to move around, and he weighs so much that if he's knocked down (thanks, cleaning lady) he can break pretty easily.

I've been debating this since WB-01 was announced, as I think their individual bots look great and seem fun to handle from the videos. But my combiners are all classics scaled at the moment and I can't afford and don't have the space for a MP and Classics combiner collection, I keep telling myself it has got to be one or the other. My original plan was to get the whole G1 cast in classics scale and just the main G1 cast (minus combiners) in MP scale. The problem with that is that the MP Decepticon's will look totally out numbered. So now I am thinking of waiting until WB-01 is done and if I like the look and the reviews are good then I will get it and display the members individually with my MP Decepticons. My only worry with that plan is that it is going to open the flood gates on getting more MP scaled combiners.

I currently have FP Bruticus, FP M3, MT Giant, MT Quantron, MMC Rex, TFC Uranos, and TFC Hercules. Hercules was my first combiner (and 3rd party figure) about 1.5 years ago and I think he scales great with classics. I got Giant recently because I really like the look of the individual bots over TFCs, something about the FP/MT asthetic really clicks for me, but I don't think the combined mode scales that well. I was a bit disappointed with the size of the M3 limb bots and the fiddliness of all the members, although I think the combined mode looks great and scales well with Herc, Uranos and Rex.

Now with UT Ordin (I think Troll looks great) and WB-03 I'm not sure what to do. Also, Computron and Abominus were the only 2 combiners I had as a kid, so they will have a special place in my collection. I was going to wait and see how Ordin, Quantrom and WB-03 scale together before making any decisions. It looks to me like WB-03 will be bigger than Ordin (which in my mind doesn't work) and Quantron will be too small to be put up against Ordin.

That is a good point, while they may be smaller, FP/MT combiners are far less of a chore to pose than their big brothers, there are practically zero weight issues with my Quantron/M3/Giant (colossus has some issues in his hasbro parts for me), where-as rex is tougher to dynamically pose (that said, all he really needs to do is stand there menacingly), and while I don't currently own any TFC bots my experience with them is usually floppy in combined mode. Holding out hope for warbotron and UT to break the trend of difficult large combiners though.
