There doesn't appear to be a thread dedicated to just plain old statues? There's an Anime Statue thread but I just bought a Kotobukiya Art FX Marvel NOW! Black Widow which I don't think goes in there.

Anyway, post pics of your statues! The prettier, the better, after all statues are made to look good.

Nobody else has statues? I find that hard to believe.

I shall persist anyway, with a couple from my favourite statue line, Kotobukiya's Bishoujo superhero line.

One of my favourite Mutants/Avengers, the Scarlet Witch! I was toally narked with what they did with her in Avengers Disassembled until recently.

And Dark Phoenix, who is basically made of clear plastic giving her a glowy quality in direct light.

Now I'm using a nicer camera I have to dig out some of my other statues that are boxed away and photograph them again.

I'll probably be the only one to say it in this thread, but I don't like statues.
They look cool, no doubt, but I personally think they're a waste of space and money.
Even more so when the company making the statue also makes action figures. WTF?

You may now return to your normally scheduled display photos.

Here a somewhat recent pic I took:

Well, to be fair, anything that isn't required to live is a waste of space and money.

I wasn't into statues myself before, mostly articulated figures, but nowadays I find myself leaving behind articulated figures for statues. I still buy action figures, I just don't get an enjoyment out of it as much as I used to. Maybe I'm just getting old and would rather collect more expensive seamless center pieces of art. I really don't know.

I'd like to get this guy one:

I know that feel. There's a usual response that usually goes something like...

    This:

There is this idea out there that if a figure does not have joints, then it's somehow inferior.

There are a variety of reasons for choosing fixed pose figures over articulated ones:

    • Joints can be unsightly
    • You're the kind of person who poses once and shelves a figure anyway
    • You prefer fluid, life-like poses (articulated toys are at times relegated to awkward versions of natural stances due to joints)
    • Superior sculpting (outside of maybe HotToys, this is almost always a fact due to materials, size, etc)

I also hear, with frequency, that you can't do anything with fixed-pose figures. This is a very "in the box" kind of argument. While the toys themselves don't move, you can certainly manipulate their environments for awesome pictures:

I collect both articulated and fixed-pose stuff. It all depends on the medium for display.

Anyway, just wanted to stick up for the hobby some. I hate it when these figures get disparaged on as if collecting satisfaction can be measured by joint count.

    Nice pictures guys!

I recently got the Bruce Timm Harley Quinn B&W statue and the Kotobukiya Mara Jade Bishoujo. I love em both, I will try and snap a couple pics of them both tomorrow.

I don't hate on them. I just don't feel like I'll get any enjoyment out of them.
I like to but stuff I can fiddle around with. The closest thing I have to a statue is NECA's TRON 2.0 Mercury. It has very nice sculpted detail and paint, plus I bought it for $5 at Five Below, but I can't do much with it.
Statues aren't really inferior IMO, I just don't find them enjoyable.

After putting off buying them for the last few years, have finally got around to the Cover Girls of the DC Universe line. Picked up (as in 180 mile round trip) Zatanna last weekend, and currently on the lookout for Catwoman (V1), Black Canary and Batwoman, and maybe Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn later on.

Also bought the B/W Harley Quinn last month, although this may end up being a one-off as the only other two I like the look of - Mazzucchelli Batman and Bermejo Joker - are way out of my price range :(

Love the statues and the poses! I'm not a huge fan of the 'anime-ish' look they have, but the sculpting is really amazing.

I'm hunting for this Rogue, which looks fantastic.

Hadn't really been too much of a statue fan, but I've recently started picking up some. These three are my favorites so far.

Nice statues everyone, I really enjoy seeing both comic and anime styles. Don't have many photos of my figurines, but I'd still like to contribute.

    Got these 4 in today:

Opened up both Bombshells to inspect. Zatanna is displayed. Shes currently the odd one to display, so Harley went back in the box. Her outfit doesn't work with Black Canary and Zatanna.

Jason is staying boxed, I can see her just fine.

Master Chief, still in box. No where to display him right now aha

By expanding my statue collection a couple scales up, its really starting to hurt my wallet. Anyways, I was messing with my LEDs the other night to see how I should set them up and how many more strips I will need.

I like the bottom image setup, but sadly, the boxes are not all the same height. I think it is fixable though since that shelf is so high up that I can put something underneath each box to level the top with the others.

I put a different type of LED light inside a couple Funko Pop boxes to see what they looked like. This is the more expensive route though since its practically $30 for a set of 4 lights. The 30" LED strips were only $15.
