F case: Hot Wheels The Homer YOTH OP with my favorite castings: Boulevard GT2, Hakosuka, and Bluebird Wagon:
I didn't even realise that we had a HW's thread (I've been posting in the monthly High's/Low's threads). Anyway, I found these 2 just today... I must have some 300-400 cars in total (& my HW's are just a secondary collection... ). Over the years, I've bought & sold everything from original MOSC Redlines and other carded cars from every decade up to today. I've tried selling off my HW's collection a few times over the years (with my project car & my TF collection, I don't need yet another drain on my finances... ) but I just can't bring myself to do it. It must be that "collector gene" or something...
Oh man, Im so happy people have been posting in this thread finally nice pics guys! My contributions, I mostly collect JDM's different kinds of variants and some muscle cars that I like. And my grail!
I had a bunch of Hot Wheels (and Matchbox) cars as a kid but never bought a single one as an adult, it just never iterested me. However, two months back my daughter (2.5 years) was given a Hot Wheels VW Beetle and she LOVED it, so I bought her a few more and noticed that there were some that interested me, like the Mystery Machine and the Jetsons car so I bought those for us to share. Thanks to this thread I see that I'll be hunting for The Homer and the Flintstones car. Obviously I'm only into the oddball cars. My daughter seems to have a thing for VW Beetles so every time I see one in a new deco I'll get one for her, Herbie was the most recent. It's nice that these are still such cheap toys for the most part, and I'm surprised even a lot of the entertainment licensed ones are still in the standard cheap line.
Weird, I'm sure there was an existing Hot Wheels thread, but can't find anything. I have lots of Hot Wheels in a box, but I really like the bigger toys that spin off from the main Hot Wheels line. I liked the big Battle Force 5 Saber toy which could house the driver in a swiveling cockpit which stayed upright no matter which way the car drove. My personal favourite was the Shogun Warriors line, kind of a mix between MASK and Starcom toys. Will have to dig them out and take pictures.
Oh, didn't know there was a Hot Wheels thread. I actually took a couple photos of some carded ones that I have the other day but didn't know where I could share them. I am not a huge Hot Wheels collector but I did collect them pretty frequently many years ago when the first Hot Wheels movie came out and probably have about 50 or so from then. Now I just buy a few here and there that I find of cars that I like. My dream car is the Subaru Impreza so any time I see one with a decent paint job and decals I get it. The Camaro and Stingray Corvette I got because of the first Transformers Movie. I am also into JDM's like many people here and I also would like to own a Skyline in the future which is why I get any Skylines that I find. Also had to have the AE86 from Initial-D when I found it cause I loved the live-action film from Taiwan (But I don't follow the manga or anime). Just the other day I also found the AE86 and Scion FR-S with the same deco, although it would have been more fitting if it was the Toyota GT-86 instead of the Scion.
So... I thought I'd start taking some pics of some of my cars. Of my collection (some 300-400 in total), only about 7 or 8 of them are loose - the rest are all still MOSC. Let's start with a 1969 Redline Chaparral 2G Another 1969 Redline - this one's a Brabham Repco F1 Then we have a 1977 Speedway Specials Steam Roller & the rest of these are from 1979. First up is an upside-down Large Charge An unpunched Spoiler Sport & finally another unpunched Workhorses CAT Forklift (I like the quirky ones ) Unlike my TF collection, I buy & sell my HW's - because I'm not that attached to them . Before I acquired those two Redlines, I'd also owned these four vintage Redlines from the late 60's. & one more pic comparing the backs of vintage Redlines' to a 25th Anniv reissue (barcode vs no barcode).
Just picked up my sesto elemento and boy is this guy awesome. I put a little panel lining but obviously looks horrible up close. And here he is next to the 1:18 auto art vers.
That AA version is incredible. I recently got into collecting 1/18 scale cars (thanks to Asphalt 8). Got an AA Aventador (I know its not in A8). Very beautiful but damn expensive. Also got a couple of Hotwheels Elites (458 and F12berlinetta). Still pretty good quality despite half the price of an AA. I'm waiting for the release of HW Elite Laferrari. Ive been thinking of getting 1/18 scale diecast car versions of G1 Autobots. Like Sideswipe Countach, Bee VW Beetle, Cliffjumper 924 (or 944). But the cost is too much. Anyone who has done this please post pics. Would love to see them.
Sweet. I just got a 458 gt2 from hot wheels elite. Haven't pulled the trigger on getting an AA aventador cuz I can't decide on Nero nemesis or turquoise. What color did u get? Aren't they coming out with a 720-4 vers? Pre-ordered the veneno. Odd looking car but I like it.
Thanks Guys! Sadly I don't have any of the HWs/Matchbox cars I had when I was a kid. I think my Mum threw the lot of them straight into the bin... :/ I can't believe I posted those pics nearly a month ago. I'd completely forgotten about this thread until just yesterday - & that's when I decided to take some more pics of my collection... These first two are a Cannonade & a Malibu Grand Prix from 1981 A Dixie Challenger from 1982 & a Flame Runner from 1983 These are all my Hot One's from 1982 & '83. I've got a thing for Z28's... Supposedly this one's worth a bit of money. It's a 1986 Group B Peugeot 205. & my last one for today is a Collector's Club Real Riders' Custom Volkswagen from 2006. & Yes, There's more to come...
A friend of mine is wanting to buy some Hot Wheels off me and I was just wondering if there was anything valuable or worth a bit in there so I don't get ripped off. I know nothing of Hot Wheels and just occasionally end up with some after buying a box lot of stuff at a car boot sale (I know the Jerry vehicle isn't Hot Wheels). Also, are Micro Machines still a 'thing'? I have these kicking about too (not sure that bigger car in the middle is one) Thankee.
Doesn't look like you've got anything particularly rare. Looks like mostly modern releases based on the molds. Only ones I'm skeptical about are the 4th cars in rows 1 and 2 and that truck in row 1. Since they aren't MOSC though you shouldn't have any worries on getting ripped off. Once they're off the card their value drops quite a bit. Only exceptions are the older releases from the 70's and such.
