I'm not a big DCU fan, but I'm shocked that so many people in the Pop-related Facebook pages that I follow are hating on the Suicide Squad line. I have no interest in them, especially once I saw the Katana Pop in person, but people seem pretty savage.
Apparently the Zur Enn Arrh Batman that is a Target exclusive is super limited, as in not every Target store is getting one in the shipper. Tons of stories about people coming home empty handed and Target employees hoarding them. Funko's own website even says this for the POP: "Get to Target early enough and you might even find the ultra-rare and extremely limited Zur En Arrh Batman Pop! Each Target store will receive these rare Batman variants but they're extremely limited! Happy hunting!" Way to encourage scalping, Funko.
You should consider yourself super lucky, if the Funko subreddit is anything to go by. Not one store in a 50-mile radius of me got in their cases yet, according to Brickseek.
And the thing is, if Funko hadn't made it so limited and then hyped up that fact, I can pretty much guarantee you that a lot of the people hunting for one wouldn't have given two fraks about it. Honestly, if people weren't seemingly loosing their minds over it, I might have actually gone out and gotten one. It's a fun, rather goofy looking figure that would have been an interesting addition to my collection. Though as-is, the hunt it would be to get isn't worth it, and the madness created by the Funko "fandome" has soured it for me. Anyways, on the topic of Funko uping their detail, I got a nice surprise when I was taking a closer look at the Holtzmann figure I got. They actually gave her the little radioactive sticker with the heart on it that's on her proton pack in the movie. Really small detail, but it's a really nice touch. I also noticed that the plastic tray she is in is different from the other four that I have. The top and bottom sections that fold in to hold her in-place actually snap into the middle section. Also, her plastic base actually has two peg holes for her feet, while the one that came with the Felicity I have only has the one.
Tons of folks didn't care at first -- I saw a lot of reaction like "Eh, I don't get it" and "I'll try to get one eventually." That all changed to "I'm hitting every Target I can, I NEED this now!!!" as soon as it was brought up how rare it would be. I wanted it cause I enjoy the character as a whole and his appearances, but it sucks that not only is it an exclusive, it's now "extremely limited." As someone who almost once got into an actual fight over a POP (which wasn't started by me), I don't enjoy when Funko does things like this. It was super nice to just walk into Hot Topic and GameStop and grab both Harleys a few days after release. I hope this isn't some kind of norm going forward.
Out of curiosity, has there been any photos leaked or released for the new Power Rangers figures? I haven't been able to find any, but I don't doubt that I could be missing them somehow. I'm not expecting any kind of a real response to it, but I just sent a message off to Funko asking them what the chances of them un-vaulting and re-releasing the first three PR figures to go with the new ones would be. I'm also not expecting them to ever re-release them. Would be great, and they would be guaranteed to sell rather well, but that would kill the rare hype they like to build for some reason. Honestly, I might get the new ones anyways. I'll never pay the outrageous prices for the others, but maybe I'll be able to get them for cheap once the Funko POP! train finally crashes.
It's really weird, they unvaulted all the Teen Titans figures (Starfire, Raven, Cyborg) when they started adding to the set, but yet they won't unvault the Power Rangers ones. I honestly don't get it. No PR pictures that I have seen. I'll likely grab a Green one and that's it unless they unvault the others.
I'm so happy that these finally came in stock yesterday. Now to wait next week for Winston and keeping checking Blizzard's site for Pharah. Yup. They were just revealed today. If you already haven't, you can preorder them from Gamestop if you talk to the cashier; they're not on the website yet. They'll also be getting a store exclusive metallic version of Billy. If their Target did happen to have them in stock, they seem surprisingly abundant for something that's supposed to be rare. Most photos showed the alien/psycho Batman Pops outnumbering the exclusive SS Joker one. Really weird.
Thanks for the link. They look good. Though I'm still not a big fan of the giant coins on their chests. I appreciate that they gave Trini her own sculpt, rather than reusing Kimberly's. I'll probably get these four, but I'm not sure about the exclusive Billy. Even if I never get the others, these still look good.
Oh man. Reusing Kim's sculpt for Trini would have caused such an uproar lol I kinda don't mind the symbols on their chests. I think they're just copying the merchandising from the 90s since the toys and products all had them with the symbols on their chests.
What's special about pharah? Do u guys have issues with your right corners tearing, didn't notice until recently few of mine has it
Pharah's exclusive to Blizzard. Haven't noticed any corners tearing though most of mine just site in their boxes on shelves.
I guess when I open them, they rip. Odd the 3 of 4 new ones I picked up today tore same area. I might try swap them at HT and be more careful
