Were they specifically for Emperor? He told me he just got the Emperor figure in and is making some robes for him soon. Maybe he posted them already and I missed out :(

He's said he's also doing a tunic for Jedi Luke like this but in black.

Just got in my shipments from Dorkside. Finally I have wave 8 and 9 :)  The Emperor is the weakest of the lot IMO so I'm going to try and mod the face.

Speaking of mods. Here is my Bandai 1/12 R2 with custom paint compared to Black Series R2 (left) and Revoltech R2 (right). I've never painted a figure in my life so this is all new to me. I think the results came out great and I gained more courage to paint other figures, including some transformers. I need to figure out how to get that wash effect look like the Revo version. Although the Revo scale is better, I much prefer the Bandai R2 for it's incredible attention to detail. I did not use any of the stickers included. Everything is painted. Just need to add in some green for the rear LED panel and some bright blue and white for the front two LED panel.

I also made the Stormtrooper so will post up comparison pics of all versions as well.

You'd think that with the R2 Black series mold already made that they'd make a bunch of recolors as other Astromechs.

Or make them as store exclusives, I'd buy them.

No kidding. This is why I bought a second Bandai kit. I'm making an R2-KT with my daughter this weekend.

Just wish they'd announce the TIE Bomber, I love that thing.

Well they've got the Tie and the Tie Advanced, so I'm sure the Tie Bomber is coming soon. Just a matter of time. I'm tempted to try some of the Bandai vehicle kits but not sure if they will satisfy me as much as the figures. The speeder bike set might convince me when it arrives tomorrow.

Does IG-88 have holes in the bottom of his feet like the others? Haven't opened mine up yet. I have some Marauder IDS figure stands but this whole black series seems to be using inconsistent hole sizes between many of the figures so the end result is not ideal sometimes.

Now that you mention it, it does make me think of Samus (Metroid) in Mandalorian-ish armor.

I can't find a single thing that's wrong with that.

Me neither -- in fact, the idea of that being Samus in the armor, actually makes the figure more appealing. Still a pass for me, though.

Well the scale is wrong and apparently it didn't sell too well as a result? Might be they intend a better version going forward.

R2, along with the rest of wave 1, sold well. Not a lot of pegwarmers like we see with Leia, Greedo and Obi Wan now. The secondary market for R2 is pretty strong too, not crazy like Darth Maul but definitely above retail. Honestly while I do see the gripes about scale (casual fans don't mind) I think it's a great figure for the price point offered which makes the gripes a bit nitpicky.

Also I don't see them making a new version of R2 when this one is only a couple years old. If anything, hopefully they re-release him for TFA line.

Are you serious? I can't even find one that isn't at least double the price!

The R2D2 I have is smaller in scale, but I actually like it small. R2 to me was the small guy and I don't mind the version I have.

Yeah I thought that too but a friend said one of the collectors sites was talking about how he was produced in smaller quantities than the others in Wave 1, so its artificially pushed up demand.
