Last I checked, the only ones that rang up at the lower price were the Avengers waves that aren't moving (like, Machine Man, Hawkeye, etc.). The newer stuff is still normal retail. At least, that's how it was when I bought Venom.
The captain America wave 1 is listed at $15.83 at Walmart. The spider-man legends are still the regular price.
Absolutely no chance at all. Disney won't allow that to happen. Hasbro can barely do any comic-based stuff anymore, and they're the only ones who can even do that.
I found a lone Giant-Man wave Cap at another Wally and it scanned at $15.83 on the price checker so it's safe to say the new wave at Wally is still $15.83.
Well, I still have Sentinal for some comic based Iron Man stuff. I just ordered the 1st Iron Man figure I will have bought in years. The Re:Edit War Machine. Gonna get their Hulkbuster too. Seems like I'm one of the few who only wants comic style anyone.
Search for Black Panther on HTS: "There is insufficient inventory for you to purchase the requested product." For kicks and giggles, search for Ahsoka Tano: "There is insufficient inventory for you to purchase the requested product." C'est la vie. If I've never seen Gwen and Venom on the pegs, I'll never see Black Panther.
I was able to get Spider Gwen and Venom at Toys r Us who happened to restock that particular Spiderman Wave. I never thought I'd see Spider Gwen in the wild.
True. But, honestly... do we really want movie X-Men figures? In most cases, their costume designs haven't really strayed very far from the 2000s Singer movies, and we saw just how much "effort" Hasbro put into the OG comic costumes with that shoddy TRU-exclusive box set. Personally, I'm way more X-cited for the upcoming X-Men Legends wave due this year. Stick to comic designs except when you've got a movie to promote (or one that you're actually allowed to, haha.) I know it's been said multiple times in this thread, but I'm reeeeeally tired of Hasbro's movie tie-in waves that start with related comic designs & hold off on the actual movie designs until later. It just doesn't work as a marketing strategy anymore, now that they're mining the D-List and lowwwwwwww-tier characters. Aside from maybe Taskmaster, absolutely nobody wants any of these figures in the current Captain America wave. And anyone who does, already bought them months ago. I realize there are many collectors who shun movie figures, but it makes far more sense to lead up to the movie's release with the actual movie figures, and then later release the comic wave, riding on the popularity and character awareness that the movie's release brings. Figures are gonna pegwarm either way, but a comic figure doesn't rely on the same window of opportunity that a movie figure does. And while I'm ranting, we need better female characters from Hasbro. It's awesome that they're doing an average of 2 women per wave now, but... they're kiiiiiinda not selling.
I'm going to take a ride over to Target later. I don't even know why I bother. The names don't change and the faces remain the same. But I guess it's good to get out of the house and stretch the legs.
I'm pretty much given up on the hunt for legends. I haven't seen anything past the Thor/Odin Wave, and then it's always Hyperion and Hawkeye. I'd love some movie figures when the movie comes out. I'm thinking I'll make the jump to S.H. Figuarts. That way I can maybe get a movie figure or two.
One thing I like about having only been collecting Legends since I started around the time Age of Ultron came out is that there will always be something to buy at the store! Heck sometimes I'll come in and they'll have some figures from 2014 still there. My current build a figure progress... Mandroid - A leg from Winter Soldier Groot - Arm from Star Lord Hobgoblin - King Thor/Odin - Complete minus extras from Sentry & Captain Marvel Thanos - Complete minus extras from Spider Woman Ultron - Complete Rhino - Hulkbuster - Missing Marvel Now Iron Man Absorbing Man - Have the head, a leg, and a weapon from Venom, Jack O Lantern, & Spider Gwen Red Onslaught - Have a head and leg from Sharon Carter & Taskmaster Giant Man - Plus I have the Yellow Daredevil, Black Ant, & the Amazon Four Pack of Black Widow, Thor, Banner, & Hawkeye I find it hard to complete a BAF because I don't collect Spider Men, sure I'll get his villains and even Spider Gwen and the Spider Women but I just don't find Spider Man interesting one bit. But one good thing is that buying some of these unknowns like Tigershark has given me reason to expand my knowledge on the Marvel Universe beyond the movies.
That's a great outlook on these things for you. Problem for me is years of reading comics books, knowing all the characters and establishing the fact that I don't care about a lot of them. Add to that the poor quality and I'm very wary of buying most of these things even at a discount.
Found some shorts. Old Navy was having a sale, heh. Target is the one who should have been having a sale. Clear out all those Hawkeye's and machine men.
Thought I'd throw in some of my Marvel display. I've actually got quite a few more figures than this, but I can't display them all due to lack of space at the moment.
Since we will be seeing Hela in the next Thor movie, I wonder if we will be getting a repainted version of the Exclusive Hela.
Yeah, I'm really not sold on the movie X-men's aesthetics...they look pretty 'generic' to me. Mostly, black leather or what materials their suits are made up of. I really don't blame Hasbro for being wary of 'movie stuff'. In my country, the track record for movie figures aren't so good...I think Hasbro was adopting a 'wait and see' attitude? Let the MCU develop further? That's how's I view their approach. My gut feeling is that Hasbro will 'redo' some of the classic TB Marvel Legends has also turned out to be accurate...but my only hope is that they do so before collectors get sick of the C and D listers! LOL! I really hope so dude...I kinda regret not picking up that set at a more affordable price when it was first released.
