agreed. i would've preferred the blue and yellow. you'd think that if retailers were smart enough to know that iron man and captain america were popular.. they'd also ask for some more actual movie figures considering their pegs are constantly clogged with non movie figures and occasionally need to clearance them out.
I'm not a fan of the brown and yellow costume, but the new sculpt does look really good. If they simply repaint this into his blue and yellow costume, and release that at normal retail, I'll probably get it.
I think at this point as long as retailers see a familiar name and movie-branding, they just go for it. Like "Oh, it's Civil War branded, that's good, you got two Captain Americas in the first wave? Great, we're in!" I'm sure the people in charge don't really care about the specifics. As long as there is something on the pegs and it's branded after the movie, retailers are happy. Toy sales are so low margin, the only reason big chain stores really stock them anymore is to get that little bit of change when a kid is there shopping with his or her parents. This is why you never see retail stores making an effort to stay current with waves and all that, it's just too much effort for such a low amount of profit. Wal-Mart could stop selling Hasbro toys tomorrow and the only one who would really suffer is Hasbro. Wal-Mart's bottom line would likely move a fraction of an inch, while Hasbro would be in full-on panic mode.
No more movie figures! I might just order that entire X-Men wave just to avoid the headache...Actually never mind, I had no idea online shops are charging way more than retail for cases/sets. That's just silly.
Movie figures sell though.... edit; eh, there is an already great version of solo series wolverine, but I get why they're making a new version.
I haven't seen it for pre-order yet but I was just checking some stores for prices of the currently available sets.
Wolverine and Rogue might be worth getting, maybe Phoenix, but I'll pass on the rest. Wish they would just show the rest of the Spider-Man wave already.
Dunno where you're checking, but on BBTS the price of a case is the same price as buying them at the store. The Red Onslaught case of 8 is $160, which is $20 per figure. Same with the Giant-Man wave. The X-Men wave is 8 figures I think, so buying a case gets you one of everyone. No tax for most people either at BBTS, so it's actually cheaper to buy from there since shipping won't be as much as tax depending on where you live.
I was looking at BBTS and a whole wave of 7 figures is $155. That's $15 more than retail. I guess the cases are regular price but I don't need extras.
I suppose if it's an extra deadpool, I'll crack. Sigh, I don't like spending so much money on crappy figures but Disney and Hasbro seem to have be by the balls. Lol.
There are 8 figures in the wave, cases only come in 8. Nobody is two-per-case. This is the complete line-up: 1) Iceman 2) Deadpool 3) Kitty Pryde with Lockheed 4) Phoenix 5) Havok 6) Cable 7) Rogue 8) Wolverine
Looks like I'm definitely going to get Deadpool and Wolverine, and will probably get Rogue and Cable too. Thankfully Juggernaut already doesn't look like he will be beating out the MS one for me, so I can safely skip the rest. EDIT: Oh yeah, and I'll have to get whoever comes with the Onslaught head too.
