Likely it's because Takaratomy is the one who is currently putting out Pokemon merch here in the US. (At least, I think its Takaratomy... their japanese figures are what's on US shelves right now.) They probably just didn't want Bandai tapping into their market....despite the fact these are for a completely different age group.

The base figure is pretty good but the feather attachments (which make up a huge part of the appeal/aesthetics) are complete crap.

The joints seriously don't look bad at all in that shot. And I too am quite happy to have three of them preordered already. ^_^ They look amazing together.

You know, seeing all the final evolutions of the gen 1 starters and Mewtwo makes me wonder if they're gonna do some kinda clone repaints of them as exclusives or something.

They'll probably do 8,192 "shiny" repaints.

I'd totally buy a shiny Mewtwo.

But he'd probably be a Tamashii web exclusive :(

Exclusive or not, I admit I'd pay good money for shiny repaints of any of these guys. ESPECIALLY if the repaints are metallic like the old Hasbro shiny pokemon figures. Those things are beautiful.

Plus, for me at least, shinies win out over clone repaints if only because the clones really only add a few spots/stripes to the designs if I recall. Though...I'd totally be on board for both shiny repaints AND clone repaints happening! And some snap on Mewtwo armor. Or an exclusive armored Mewtwo variant. That'd be swell.

...or they could release a shiny Mewtwo variant that comes with the snap-on armour AND a bonus Master Ball!

Throw in a shiny Mew to go with it and I'll buy five.

It's a really hard figure to pose, not to mention takes up quite a bit of space. However, I'd say it's worth the 1250 yen on amiami right now.

Think I may be able to pass on venosaur unless other pictures look better. Doesn't really lend itself to being an action figure tho, so for what it is, it looks good I guess

Aaah maaan. He might look cut up but I want him so bad.... Why August, Bandai? Why make him so far away? He is mah duuude and I neeed him. Ah well. I do wish they'd give us a better look at the vine whip pieces he comes with. I'm curious if they'll be just solid pieces or bendy or what.

    Ebay:
Just got my in stock email for Mewtwo from amiami. With Sal small packet registered shipping it came out to 3880, which is like $42. Crazy that its almost $20 cheaper than BBTS before shipping with BBTS. So glad amiami opened more orders. Hopefully it ships out tomorrow or Saturday!

Those cuts look terrible on Venusaur.
Kind of ironic, considering Venusaur probably only has 3 poses in him, thanks to his body shape and size.

That just makes me wish that the Kanto starters came with mini-figs of their pre-evolutions.
