I just found a series of Takara/Tomy mascot phone straps on eBay: I ended up buying the Clu Lightcycle one, even though it was $8.50 shipped. I've always had a soft spot for gashapon figures & I currently have a strap on my phone anyway. The figures & cycles are probably no bigger than 2" tall/long, so yeah you'd probably be better off not paying $9 - $15 each for these unless you really LOVE how they look & want one hanging off your phone.
I spent over an hour looking online last night for a retailer who carried them, but no luck so far. Even the seller on eBay had no sets listed. There's an anime store kinda near me that's been good about getting stuff in I asked about, so I'll check with them on Monday.
I was able to find one of the deluxe black guards today. it wasnt on clearance though and still $15 I put it back and walked away dissapointed
Yeah ... when are they gonna start to drop the TRON toy prices? I want some of them, but not for full price.
They'd basically just have to mod the Clu cycle a bit to remove the rear spoiler. There's also an Italian distributor selling the diecast vehicles with a few new variations, such as an off-road mode Light Runner, and a "Rinzler Light Cycle" which is just Clu's repainted with orange lines. But before you put too much stock in that, they also have the Clu's Sentry cycle listed as Clu's cycle.
Okay, since all the Walmarts in my area have discontinued selling Tron toys entirely, if anyone's able to pick up a deluxe Clu light cycle and is willing to sell it to me for around retail plus shipping, I would most appreciate it. You don't even need to bother putting it in a box--use a brown paper bag or something to wrap it in. Walmart...you're such a bastard.
Don't give up on Walmart yet, the ones around here are doing their spring reset & Tron toys are being moved out of the diecast aisle & into the action figure aisle. One store had the planning sheets up showing 3 rows of Tron from top to bottom, and all they had out so far were Flynn cycles & Light Jets.
Yeah, and I'd like to add that the deluxe vehicles are $13.99 too. I finally picked up a lightcycle, and the lightjet looks rather tempting.
Saw 2 Quarras today, picked up a White Flynn disc and a Rinzler Disc. I would of bought both Rinzlers, but...I am really in the air about buying more than I need.
Got a die-cast recognizer, Saw a 1-man lightjet, it's smaller than I thought! same box size as the lightcycles!
yeah but it spreads out more, wish those tron figures were real for a actual tron off of disneys shop but im hearing they are sending a different figure instead
The TRON arcade machine with Sam Flynn is now being found at TARGET stores. Word on the street is that the pictures of these figures weren't even supposed to be seen yet (apparently they aren't due for a while). Spinmasters doesn't even know how Disney got a hold of them to begin with. They are also confused as to why Disney is falsely advertising them on their online store are upset because people trying to order the two figures from Disney are instead being sent regular old orange Rinzlers and Black Guards. So just wait and see what the deal is with them. Do not buy them from Disney's online store until this matter is resolved.
Got me the small $4 diecast Kevin Flynn's light cycle today at Target. Haven't really been interested in much of the Tron stuff, but there's something about this design of lightcycle that I really like. Almost bought the big version of it (was on sale for $14), but this small one is good enough for me. I do have a question for those who already own this thing, does the canopy open up? Might just be me, but it almost looks like it's supposed to. I doubt that it is, but to me it looks like it's got a hinge there so it can open. Also, what information, if anything, is out there about series 2 of these things? I wouldn't mind getting more of this same cycle in different colors (blue and red were the first movie's colors, right?).
I'm still on the hunt for Kevin Flynn's Identity Disc. I noticed a few weeks ago they were back to $19.99 at Target.
Series 2's been out for a few weeks, it's just Series 1 with the Light Jets & Grid Limo added to the lineup. There's a Series 3 mentioned on the cardbacks, but so far no specific vehicles (I'm hoping for Clu's bigass Sark-style command ship & a Rinzler cycle.) The canopy on your light cycle isn't meant to open up, but I did get one that wasn't fully screwed into place & that made the canopy move a lot. Try tightening the screw on the underside. Really? They've been on sale for $13.99 there for the past 2 weeks, along with pretty much all the larger toys.
