Honestly, Mattel only took the license for Voltron because they were expecting a movie to be made really quickly. They probably found out that was not going to happen and knew they had to do something with it, so making their subscription toyline was their only way to make up their costs.

To-date, you guys have got to be the luckiest collectors for that Matty Voltron. Mine and the rest couldn't even stand properly and the lions' limbs kept popping out. I was so cheesed off that I sold the bugger off! X)

Really? i stopped following the threads once i received Black Lion. I even let my 6 yr old son handle this for limited play. (in Fully formed Voltron & individual lions) Never had an issue. It's been in storage for over a year so who knows what may have deteriorated by now.

I followed the Voltron forum on Matty for a while until it stopped being updated sometime at the end of 2013. Up to that point I know there were some people having problems, a couple people blowing things out of proportion with negative hyperbole, and also plenty of people that seemed content with their purchase. Which is pretty much how it goes for every toy I suppose. Anyway, I haven't heard any mention of the toy since late 2013, which is why I asked what I asked a few posts ago. Still very happy with mine, as is my 3YO daughter. :)

I bought two sets of the Matty Collector Voltron. I was planning on opening one set and keeping the other MISB. I still have both sets though.

My bad and my most sincere apologies, Shin! I meant to quote eriku.

Yeah, really! I'm so envious of you and eriku that both your Voltrons are sturdy. Mine and those I know had the same issues as shown in the youtube a and reported.

Initially I thought those issues were overhyped but after the numerous times the lions' legs kept popping out, the instability of the combined form - I gave up.

The only good thing were the individual lions but then again its pretty limited..

Finally got mine the other day and I must say...I'm quite happy with him. They even included the Bonus swords and stickers for the lion numbers.

I got a ko of this from kmark 8-10 years ago I really wish I'd kept track of all the pieces to. I kept it in the combined form in storage totes I thought, and a few years ago I went looking threw them to find the head, chest plane , and either a piece of one of the arms or a leg missing.:(

I remember seeing it. Wish I had got it. The best part of it was that it included the sword that the Matchbox one left out. I did recently get the sword in a sword lot (included a few Lion Voltron swords as well) & love adding it to my vehicle voltron.

I got my KO from TRU. $15 for a decent looking KO and yeah the sword is the best thing. I managed to get a Matchbox Vehicle Voltron a few years ago for about $60 so he promptly got the KO sword and he looks great.

30th anniversary Toynami Voltron. Worth it at 200.00 with free shipping?

I have been without a Voltron for a while and have been eyeing the 30th Anniversary Toynami version. I found it for about 200.00 with free shipping. Is it still worth it at that price?

As someone who paid $100 for it when it was first released a decade ago I'd say no, absolutely not. It didn't even feel like a $100 toy to me (Poor materials, loose joints). Also keep in mind that Toynami is notorious for their toys deteriorating quickly.

But I know there are others who paid more and are quite happy with it.

Here's the main thread for the toy where you can read some comments on it.
