Messed a bit more with the turtles and I'm honestly thinking of throwing away the Classics figures because these are obviously better. But I still have my issues with them. Like I don't like how Leo's swords sit so low on his back and Don's odd choice of accessories. But I guess the biggest issue I have is the engineering of the shell. Still better figures than the Classics but these issues I mentioned do hold them from being close to perfect.
Dang, I should have waited to buy Doctor Strange and Star Lord. Would have saved quite a bit. Haha. Oh well.
So Dada is pretty cool with a lot nice paint aps and sculpting. Unfortunately, I do not like the way they did his legs. He has those drop down hip pegs that are prone to breakage and the hip piece that covers the joint is extremely loose whenever you move his legs around. Other than that minor nitpick and that one hand is molded attached to the gun, I love him. The different faces are pretty awesome, especially the battle damaged one. If he wasn't so expensive I would easily buy two more. I can't wait to add Antar, Pandon, Guts, and Zarab to my collection next year.
I'm thinking of grabbing a Figuarts Deadshot from Barnes & Nobel because of their sale right now. Just not sure how he'll look beside my Mezco Batman.
I love this Sora. ...Mostly. He did break on me immediately out of the box. The red pouches on his hips are on ball joints and the tiniest bit of pressure on one just popped it right off. A little super glue later and it's like it never happened, moving around on the ball joint smoothly and everything. So maybe mine just wasn't glue in well? Minor quibble in the end though. He's otherwise great. I adore how the keychain on the Keyblade is actual a functional keychain too.
Makes me want Donald, Goofy & Mickey even more. He arrived at the same time as Revoltech Magneto who can hold the metal part of the keyblade with his magnet hands
i had barns and nobel hold a dead shot for me to pick up friday, don’t need him but he is cheap. now more Dragonball pics...
I got Raph. I understand how the shell works more now that I've messed with it. I wish the figure would be able to crouch/kneel more without having the spread the legs wide apart. I like the heft and range of motion. Especially with the arms. I'm not a fan of the front shell and belt being made of PVC. The sais aren't snug in their holders either. I wish the sais could be held between the fingers.
The ankle articulation and the engineering for the knees are quite good. Paint was a little sloppy in places on mine, but still overall lives up to the Figuarts standard.
I'm thinking of doing the same. I think he's already on sale, but will they accept my 25% off coupon as well?
I tried the "GETGIFTING" 25% code on the website on Chun-Li since she was in stock and on sale and it appears so..... Edit: Yup, got Dead Shot for $25
I went to the Bluefin Warehouse sale this morning, picked up a few things, nothing too outrageous. SRC Mazinger & MSIA Justice were 40% off, making them $36 and $9 respectively. Bruce Lee was $30, the Mario Set was $15 (though I now notice they neglected to give me the 30% discount on that, ah well,) and Figuarts Zero Megaman was $25. I'm glad I finally got this Megaman, but good lord I can't imagine paying the $45 I always see comic stores asking for him.
If it's the GETGIFTING coupon it will work combined with the 30% off in store. I was able to get Ryu for $26+. Iron Man mkIII with hall of armor piece is also on sale. I saw Shenron for $100, bigger figure than I thought it would be. Ryu is an amazing figure. It is very easy to get it posed like the inbetween frames in the game, so it's very photogenic. I love the swivel between the 2 elbow hinges. It doesn't have the swing down leg hinges but the ball joints in the upper torso and abs help get around that. I even got it to stand doing an axe kick unsupported. Great figure and I hope we get characters beyond SFV....like Sagat, Adon, Gen and Fei Long. I would love to see the Alpha 2 cast and styling. Speaking of styling this Ryu isn't exactly specific to SFV. The hair definitely reminds me of 3rd Strike/V but the face doesn't match any of the styles from II/III/IV/V. I'm glad it doesn't match IV's Powerstone look. Doesn't have the chiseled stoicness of Super II. It's a more rounded look. It's like a hybrid styling. Messed with my Figuarts Kamen Rider Knight last night. It's aged well, I just shudder to think how much it would cost if remade. It came with so much stuff! Does Ouja still go for $60+ on the aftermarket?
I just picked up Donatello at a B&N retail store (they were out of Leo, BOO-URNS) and although the discounts do stack, they’re not a sum total percentage. Basically, they start with 30% off from $49.95, which makes the price $34.96. Since I’m a member, I get another 10% off... but it’s taken from the $34.96 price, and now the figure costs $31.46. Finally, the extra 25% is taken from $31.46, and the figure is now $23.59 before tax. If they gave an actual 65% total discount (30 + 10 + 25,) then the original $49.95 would go down to $17.48 before tax. Sure, it’s only about $6, and even without the “full” discount it’s still a figure well worth the price. Just kinda bugs me how retailers gimmick their offers.
S.H. Kamen Rider Ouja is asking $100+ USD on Amazon, on Manda (with the conversion to USD) is $53. It seems like the Kamen Rider Figuarts are going to the SS route lately and still waiting for my own copy of SS Skull since I made a deposit of $20 CND to my local hobby store back in September 14th of this year.
Thanks for the breakdown, that explains why my total cost wasn't lower than the cost that I expected. Any other coupons for Barnes and Noble that are legit? I was messing with D arts Zero last night. Is X just as poseable? I remember X being out 1st. I hope we get a Figuarts Strider since that new guy in SFV has an alt costume that looks like Strider.
