Yeah he was from the retaliation line. Vac chromed mask, removable helmet and he came with an extra hooded head. This was an awesome figure from a pretty alright line.
I'm thinking I missed out on this line because that was around the time I quit collecting for a bit. A damn shame because, of all the figures I bought over the years, that line seems to be the only one I should have got besides the originals.
Stopped at a rummage sale yesterday and picked up 50 loose but complete 25th Anniversary figures for $40. Couldn't pass them up at that price.
Typical movie line though, first wave massively over ordered and not that great, so the better second and third waves never really made it into many stores. Add in terrible packaging.
add terrible movie and terrible vehicules. The ultimate line should have never been part of the movie stuff.
Between traveling for work (in Korea at the moment), dealing with typhoon issues, and delays with mail shipping, I still haven't received my SDCC GI Joe x Transformers crossover set. Maybe when I get back home. I have been checking out the FSS 5.0 subscription for next year and the selection of characters looks pretty good! Sneak Peak and Salvo (the 2nd version) are my faves thus far; Steel Raven, Charbroil, and Xamot are looking nice too.
Yeah, not a great movie from a directing, writing, acting, editing, effects, etc perspective but I found it much more entertaining than the first movie. I have no interest in movie style figures and had no idea they would release original arah style figures, let alone ones that good under the movie brand. Oh well. Maybe I should sell every figure I bought in between those lines and just buy this Ultimate line.
The Rock and Bruce Willis saved the movie a tiny bit, the other caracters are as usual only decor. Some movie caracters are good figures, not everything has to be always oldschool style. That gets really boring after a while.
I like ninjas. And nope...I have no care or connection to movie style characters (this goes for Transformers and Marvel as well...Exact opposite when it comes to Star Wars for obvious reasons). Old school is not boring to me because those are the designs that made me like it in the first place and it's not like I watch GI Joe cartoons all the time anymore. I just want some definitive versions of the characters I like and I'm done. Maybe if a 6" line comes someday, I'll see how that goes. Probably just more frustration given Hasbro's 6" figure quality...I wish SHF could do it and I'd really be done.
I think it's dumb, wish it was the Rattler/Powerglide in that set and the line just ended, but oh well. Starscream with some Reprolabels/factory stickers. I love this one.
Whenever I see this thread getting some activity, I come in hoping to see news of a 6" line. I am still disappoint.
It astounds me that Hasbro hasn't tried a *real* Transformers/GI Joe crossover yet, given how enduringly popular Transformers have proven to be over the last 10+ years, and how GI Joe has been struggling since at least '94. I'm talking about a HISS tank - in Joe scale, that can interact with GI Joe figures - that transforms into, I dunno, Soundwave, or whatever.
You answered your own question: Is why. A joe scale hiss tank that transforms and is on par with leader class.
Same. Love the Crossovers line. In addition to the official ones, I hacked together a Crossovers Beachcomber using an old Eco-Striker as a base. I'll post pics later. Big A-10 fan here too. The Powerglide Rattler was a dream come true this year for me. My only complaint was that they didn't give the Scarlett figure brown hair and name her Astoria Carlton-Ritz. Yeah, I could have done without the Jetfire as well. Partly because it's the same mold as Starscream, partly because that Sky Striker toy is just so ridiculously huge that it's hard to display. I have three versions of it... Starscream, Jetfire, and the 30th Reissue, and I simply don't know where to put the massive things. I can't believe they released several more versions of it in retail sets over the last few years. I avoided those sets specifically because I didn't want any more giant Sky Strikers. If one of those sets had had a Rattler or one of other smaller jets or aircraft, it would have been a lot more enticing. I hope the Crossovers line squeaks out another set or two. Even though I customized one, I think an AWE Sriker Beachcomber is a no-brainer and it would be nice to have it officially made. And the Conquest X-30 would make a good Cyclonus. I'd love a Cyclonus-vs.-Beachcomber set. Or maybe do a tank set... G2 Megatron from the Mobat vs. Warpath from the Armadillo, or something. Anyone signing up for the next Joe FSS subscription? I'm conflicted on it, but will probably end up caving. I cherry-picked from last year's, though, and feel like I probably would have been better off just dropping the cash for the whole line vs. paying inflated prices for the individual figures.
A 6 inch Joe line would sell very well IMO. It did so well for Hasbro's Star wars figures that you barely see the 3.75's anymore. See above. If Hasbro wants this line to have any sort of come back they need to get with the times and start going with the 6 inch scale. The only setback here is this is going to make it wildly impractical to implement vehicles into the line.... Yeah. Maybe I've just disproven myself. Oh well, a true TF/GI Joe crossover line is LONG overdue. I'm actually quite shocked no 3P company has attempted it yet.
WhiteMocha pretty much gave my beef with the Jetfire mold. Just too big and I didn't want another Sky Striker mold. I give them credit for the effort though since at least it has brand new parts. Wifey confines my collection to what I can fit in the cabinets only, otherwise she'll give me grief which affects my other more important hobbies (skiing and traveling for my sports team) so can't mess with her on that front. A Conquest/Cyclonus and an AWE/Eco-Striker Beachcombers would be awesome. This me playing Tetris trying to make space for the Powerglide and Soundwave tank.
