I've bought Standard Duke and Firefly so far. They seem find to me- they look as good as a 25th Ann figure, but have more accessories. There are some out there with sloppy paint aps though, but that's not out of the norm. Of course their biggest issue is that for the most part they lack that nostalgic quality of the 25th Ann figures.
Got the Snake Eyes in trenchcoat earlier tonight. Leaps and bounds above the regular Snake Eyes. I recommend it to all of you!!
I might pick up Breaker, Shipwreck, Helix (new character), and some Cobra Cannon Fodder, but not too interested in "Duke" or "Ripcord" (why a Wayons? Why?)
I saw the figures today and I must admit that the sculpt looks pretty good. For example, Duke and Baroness. I passed up on Snake-Eyes and Storm Shadow - the former because I can see the nose and mouth and the latter because of his design as I'm not used to this design.
I'm at work today and went to Forbidden Planet on my Lunch break. I was looking at the Movie GI Joe figures and I thought they didn't look too good compared to the 25th and the 80's figures. I picked a viper up to buy, but I put it back. known me I'll probably pick it back up on Monday and buy it ! I'll just contemplate it ! In the end today i ended up buying my first and probalbly last Indiana Jones figure for £1.99 !!
Well at least the figure stands are better this time around compared to the 25th Ann. stands. Most of the Cobra figures look great, though I still haven't seen any in person locally beyond wave 1. Already picked up the Night Raven and boy is it ever as awesome as I hoped it would be.
Saw some of these at a couple of Targets today. Didn't flip through them too much, but the Cobra Commander and Scarlett figures both look like ass. CC is just a weird design choice, in that he apparently wears a clear mask to hide his disfigurement, but Scarlett is just a terrible-looking sculpt in general. Destro didn't look too bad, though. Not sure I'd actually buy any, but might flip through them a bit more carefully at some point.
The only things I'm looking at are some vehicles. The armadillo repaint and the Steel crusher. But if some nice 25th/classic/modern repaints come along that fit my tastes I'll get those too.
I picked up the "Desert Ambush" (Accelerator Suit?) Scarlett. I think the face sculpt looks great. That's probably the only one I'll get. She goes on my Star Wars "Mara Jade" shelf.
No, that is just her in her Army fatigues. Duke and Rip are the only ones who wear the Accelerator Suit.
I picked up a Neo Viper, unmasked Storm Shadow, and wait for it.... wait for it.... A "jellyfish" Cobra Commander. I just had to see if his clear outer mask was able to be removed. Plus its just so damn ugly it was almost appealing for some reason. Yeah, I know, I have issues.
Desert Ambush Scarlett has the reactive impact armor, I think that's what Magnus meant. And I agree that the face sculpt is very well done. The covert ops Scarlett has blue fatigues, and the head sculpt is pretty bad on that one.
I'm really tempted to pick up Krangbra Commander. He looks really different. Also, that TRU exclusive Firefly is awesome. I'd definitely recommend him.
I wasn't sold on the movie line, after I was let down by many of the 25th figures with poor articulation and QC issues. Went to Target today, and looked at the figures, and decided to pick up Paris Pursuit Snake Eyes. What an AMAZING figure. He is just so cool and unique. I just couldn't believe the improvements that were made for these figures over the 25th line. Well, I hope to get back to Target tomorrow, since there sale is still going on, and pick up the other Snake Eyes, so I have a movie accurate one. And then I want to pick up Cobra Commander, one of the Storm Shadows (and some input to which is better would be nice), Desert Ambush Scarlett, Reactive Armor Duke, and MAYBE Accelerator Suit Ripcord. The reason for the maybe is because I really like the looks of the Reactive Armor, but am not completely amazed by the Accelerator suits. We'll see.
I've picked up both versions of Baroness, Impact Armor Scarlett and Heavy Duty, as well as the Steel Crusher and am pretty happy so far. The Steel Crusher is a pretty snazzy little truck, and the sculpts and accessories on the figures aren't bad at all (big, goofy kid-friendly missile launchers notwithstanding). My only beef right now is that Heavy Duty's bullet belt for his chaingun won't really connect to his backpack and cannon right. The Night Raven is tempting me, but the price tag is a little high for me right now just because of a money black hole known as Revenge of the Fallen. But I'll probably be getting it soon regardless. That and Draven keeps tempting me every time I log on to IM. XD
Out of the 20 I own, some have weird articulation(Baroness), some can't hold there weapons worth a shit(Flint), and then a few of the others have very loose joints. The PP SE has no loose joints, has good articulation, and can hold ALL of his weapons very well. Maybe it was just the figures I bought, but I was pleasantly suprised. Just my
