I am sorting my toys for a sale of many of them and I realize I have way more Spawn toys than I remembered. These are many years old, things like Overtkill and Tremor. Think there is a market for that sort of thing? I'd probably just want to get rid of them in one fell swoop (a la ebay, I guess).
You could check the Spawn.com forums. There used to be a thriving community there, although I haven't dropped in on that crew in about 5 years.
If you have a red Manga Spawn...I'd take it I only ever got Cyber Spawn, but I thought the idea was cool...wish I got a normal looking Spawn while they were selling them at WalGreens...haha, they don't even sell toys anymore do they?
They are worthless. I got rid of a near complete collection for only $300 on auction about a year ago. All the choice pieces were gone though, some of the Spawn's are worth money like Manga Spawn, but not much. The once $400 Maxx and Izz figure is about $25.
I was waiting for someone else to say it. Blue Meanie summed it up well. My Dragons wave 1 plus box set sealed was the only thing that sold for anything decent. No one I know gets anything for McFarlane stuff. But conversely, if there's any McFarlane toys from the past you want, you can pretty much find em all on eBay for under $20 new at one time or another.
Wow! When was Maxx going for $400? I bought mine on Ebay in 2001 or 2002 for $35. Maxx is the only McFarlane toy I still display. Although once the Shocker Toys version arrives my dusty old McF version might go into retirement.
96...98 maybe, 2 years after he came out. when mcfarlane figures snatched stupid amounts of money. When I think of the TF's I could have bought back then instead of the Spawn crap, it makes me sad.
Spawn stuff is essentially worthless right now. Even the pricier CCX toys and whatnot are selling for half or less than they were even a year and a half ago. If they are still sealed you may be better donating them to Toys-For-Tots for the tax write off.
That's sort of funny. Maxx is about the only one I would want to keep. I never ended up paying scalper prices for these, so I can be happy about that at least. Back in those days I would sometimes find figures that were rare (whether the rarity was real or artificial) and buy them mostly so the scalpers wouldn't get them. My "Werewolf" Spawn series figure (from Wetworks perhaps?) was found on a high Walmart shelf. Mostly I can't even remember the names of these guys. Many are color variants. I'm checking through the spawn.com toy section. Here are some of them that I have. Keep in mind they are all loose/uncarded. Overtkill Tremor (green variant?) Werewolf (grey variant?) Redeemer (broken arm) Cy-Gor (gold variant?) Battleclad Spawn Superpatriot Alien Spawn Sansker After Burner (riders) Green Vapor (riders) Cybertooth Manga Samurai Spawn Some sort of beige/tan goblin looking dude.
I still think many of those Spawn figures look awesome. Have been tempted to collect them hardcore. Everytime I go to sell mine, I start staring at them and put them back Only thing I don't like about them is the dust is hard to get off that soft plastic. Been wanting to get some of the hands from those Cyber Spawns, they look like they'd make good custom hands for Bayformers
