Quote: MattyCollector posted this today and its huge. A while back, the WWE toy license changed hands and the details of the product launch has been minimal. Now we have a clear understanding of whats going to be out on the shelves come January 1st, 2010. Here is the press release: If you're a WWE® fan, I've got huge news: Mattel is going to launch a whole line of World Wrestling Entertainment® (WWE®) products! Highly-detailed figures, belts, rings, and more will be in stores January 1, 2010! They’ll be insanely accurate in scale, detail, and WWE authenticity. The Superstar figures have tattoos that show even when they’re fully articulated, and the first 1,000 of each WWE basic figure for 2010 will come with one of 1,000 consecutively numbered die-cast commemorative WWE Championship Belts. Also look for these three segments…
Elite Collection
My design friends at Mattel talked to a lot of collectors to find out what they want, and the Elite Collection is the result. Watch for fan-favorite Superstars and Divas in 2010 that’ll come with a personalized stand and authentic ring attire.
Entrance Greats™
Everyone loves ring entrances! We’ve captured all the excitement with figures packed out in their entrance outfits from epic WrestleMania® battles and a base that plays their music!
FlexForce™ Action Figures
We know kids dig WWE, too, so there’s a ton of toys just for them. The figures can do authentic moves just like a Superstar, and kids can stage matches in the Breakdown Brawl Ring. There’ll be accessories, too, like tables, ladders, and chairs. | Read More: Mattel Prepping a major WWE Toy Launch @ Toys and Action Figures News - Toyark.com. Ah yes, Marvel VS Capcom. A series so well received and in demand that Marvel VS Capcom 2 finally returned to consoles this year as a downloadable game and with some refinements added. The 1st Capcom fighter to debut the fight between Street Fighter and Marvel characters was the popular X-Men VS Street Fighter, followed up by Marvel VS Street Fighter. Then came a bigger roster in Marvel VS Capcom, and everything culminated in it's popular sequel, well everything except for toys that is...
So the Discussion of the Week this time around revolves around Marvel VS Capcom toys. Hasbro is no stranger to Street Fighter figures, they made Street Fighter G.I. Joe figures more than a decade ago. Hasbro currently has the license to make 3-3/4" Marvel figures so.....
Let's say Hasbro decided to make 3-3/4" Street Fighter figures, only this time, NOT as part of the G.I. Joe line. Possibly similar in styling to the popular Marvel Universe figures. Add in other Capcom characters such as those from Darkstalkers, Mega Man, Strider, and others who made in appearance in Marvel VS Capcom 2 and you have an absolutely HUGE roster and a 3-3/4" line full of potential. For the most part, the Marvel figures(pre-existing characters) can be a mix of repaints and new tooling, while the bulk of new sculpts would go to Capcom characters.
Maybe Gigantic Battles sets with the fan-favorite Sentinel design from Marvel VS Capcom 2, or Blackheart, the upgraded Mega Man, Jin Saotome's Blodia, et al, the possibilities are vast! This line could be used to fill in gaps for missing Marvel characters in the Marvel Universe line, while at the same time, FINALLY giving us figures based on this awesome series. Sure Toy Biz made a few years back, but they are dated. So do you think this is an idea that Hasbro should pursue? Is a 3-3/4" Marvel VS Capcom 2 toyline a great idea? DISCUSS!
