Rider Kick Appreciation

If it helps at all, series 6 is easily the nicest looking!

And if your two doubles are Kiva Emperor or Rising IXA, you very likely will be able to sell/trade them- seems there are a lot of folks looking for those.

I wouldn't mind either myself, but I think the full set has pretty much the optimal set of characters I have to own, so I guarantee nothing.

Anyway, I took my sweet time, but have finally bought a Vangelus-approved insectoid biped. Kamen Rider the First, from SH Figuarts! I would have gotten Kabuto, but HLJ has quite the line forming for him already. So, getting The First as my first works well enough.

I've almost considered stopping my Figuarts pre-orders to save on money, but damn if the things don't seem to get scarce after their release most of the time. >.<

I'm giving all my TFs and kaiju ascots after he arrives.

And has even one person bought Domon? I've never seen mention of him anywhere, to the point that I keep forgetting he exists. It's like the opposite of scarce.

Yeah I got the Kawasomethingsomething SIC Hibiki on the way too, I just couldn't resist the low price.

Isn't there a show like this on Fox Kids on Saturday morning now?

If so, will be be getting any toys in the U.S. for it?

I'm guessing these things are related to the old show "Masked Rider"?

History!

The older Saban "Masked Rider" was a patchwork project that used footage from the 1988 series Kamen Rider Black RX (which was the sequel to Kamen Rider Black), occasionally pushing in footage from the 3 90's Kamen Rider movies (J, ZO, Shin). It didn't really work, and apparently made Toei lose all faith in Kamen Rider being ported to the states for quite a while.

Kamen Rider itself is a franchise dating back to 1971, usually revolving around a dude on a motorbike who transforms and beats up evil. It's so iconic in Japan that a comet was named after the actor of the original Kamen Rider.

Right now, the Wang Brothers are doing a show called Kamen Rider Dragon Knight, which is based off of the KR Ryuki series of 2003. They kept the untranslated "Kamen" to further distance themselves from the Saban attempt, and have been very open about their knowledge of and the show's links to the Japanese side of the franchise. Apparently it will be getting toys this year, but nobody knows what yet.

I really need to get some Kamen Rider toys..... It's a shame that I didn't get any when I was at the Philippines.
