Has there been any news of another holiday vignette set? I know there aren't many international holidays over the summer but I love the idea of those sets.
Picked up Series 2 Marge and Patty, four more to go to be complete For fathers day my wife and kids got me Raptor Rampage and the Toy & Grocery Shop
TRU is giving away a free Jurassic World polybag with 30.00 Lego purchase this week. I picked up Dilophosaurus Ambush.
If you're into collecting packaging I could see how this will set you back but since none of the pieces are new or exclusive it will be easy to bricklink pieces and make your own once someone posts the instructions. At least that's what I plan on doing. I'm sure I have half of the pieces already
That IS a sdcc I'd want but it would definitely be cheaper to bricklink it. That said, I'd but it in store for sure or if I could just order it online. Not sure I like it enough to track down the parts though.
I got in on that. Picked up a Duplo set for my kid and this set: For some reason, I always wanted that unikitty figure. The set is pretty cool.
So, the Gamestop preorder bonus isn't exclusive at all? That bites, but I'm still gonna keep mine unopened.
The piece for the roof has not been available in green before. It is unique to this set, so you will have to modify it a little.
Nice! I don't have much of an interest in it, but it's nice that it's available. I'm glad your daughter's having fun with it!
I don't think it was ever advertised as exclusive, just assumed as such based on older GS Lego pre-orders. I don't think this is going to go up in value if you keep it unopened, the figure itself is a repaint from the last Dino line anyways. If you want an extra just go to GS and ask if they have any leftovers. I've scored a total of six that way already. If that's the only unique piece I can mod it and live with that.
I've never wanted an SCDD Minifigure before, but I'm sad I'll never have this one: Ah well, hopefully we'll get a comic-based version in a set eventually, like we did with Green Arrow (though, granted, but Minifigures of him were comic based, but my point still stands).
This is kind of a weird question, but how do you guys define your LEGO collection? Do you keep everything? Sell off small themes that are discontinued? Or just break everything down into a mixed box? I ask because I'm curious about other's thoughts on themes that end. I have a bunch of LOTR/Hobbit sets that I really do like, but I'm not sure if I want to keep them. The theme is clearly dead, and lego ideas seems to disregard every Minis Tirith set that makes it to the review stage. I don't know if I really want to keep them around and take up the space. LEGO star wars continues to roll on like a storm, so I'm sure I'll be getting more and more sets as the years go by.
I keep all my sets, my favorites (the Middle-earth themes being one of those actually, along with Harry Potter, Pirates, BIONICLE, and a few other miscellaneous sets from other themes) I keep the original boxes from, and when I don't have them built I keep them stored in said boxes (that way when I want to build/play/display Weathertop, I don't have to dig through lots of random bricks, plus, I like the packaging too). Currently my Middle-earth sets are all stored in their boxes in a corner in my room, but I hope to get them all built (or at least a few of the bigger ones) and displayed when I finish building my bookcase. I also have a bunch of creations and Minifigures on a small shelf that I'm always mixing around. Right now Hulk (from the Hulkbuster set.) is helping two Collectible Minifigures Wizards take down a dragon made from Mixel parts. I have a big tub full of random bricks too (which never seems to have enough parts ), and sometimes I'll buy a set just for the parts (like the previously mentioned Mixel, Hoogi). Most themes come to an end, but that doesn't mean I can't continue to enjoy the sets from them. I hope this was a good response! I just realized I may not have answered your questions very well...
I don't really collect legos atm (daughter is only 2 so it's Duplos for now) but if I buy a set, I build it and leave it that way. If I create something on my own that I like a lot out of misc pieces, I usually leave it that way (I have designs still intact from when I was a little kid). Other than that, I don't get rid of anything...if it's a loose piece, I just keep it in a bucket.
