Since i don't want to spam the Shinki thread with Figma stuff, i think it's time for a new thread. For those who don't know, Figma are action figures based on anime characters. They are small, smaller than Shinki or Revoltech Fraulein, but they are very detailed. So anyway, the official site. Here's a list of all the currently announced Figma, with details & pictures: Nagato Yuki (Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu) Release: Out now! Will get a US release on 2008-03-30 Price: 2500 yen Suzumiya Haruhi (Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuutsu) Release: 2008-04, US 2008-06-30 Price: 2500 yen The rest of the cast will be released eventually too, Kyon in May and Mikuru and Koizumi in June: There's also a Haruhi variant -- Haruhi Brave Version (Suzumiya Haruhi no Tomadoi) Release: Out now! Price: 10.290 yen with PS2 game Saber (Fate/stay night) Release: 2008-04, US 2008-06-30 Price: 2800 yen There will also be a figma Rin, but no details are yet known: Lelouche Lamperouge (Code Geass) Release: 2008-03 Price: 2500 yen Konata cosplay version (Lucky Star) Release: Initially Wonderfest limited release, but can be preordered from the Goodsmile online shop via proxy for one week after. Released 2008-06. Price: 2500 yen The Lucky star cast will get a general release, but again, no details known as of yet. Tsukasa, Konata, Kagami, Miyuki winter uniform version (Lucky Star) Takamachi Nanoha (Nanoha StrikerS) Release: 2008-05 Fate T. Harlaoun (Nanoha StrikerS), again no details Kanu Unchou (Ikkitousen), no details again Apparently there will also be Street Fighter figma, but no pictures or whatever have surfaced so far. Maybe you can tell, i'm damn excited about this new line of action figures. I've always liked anime figures better than robots and the like, and these look a lot better than Revoltech Fraulein to me. I do feel it's kind of ******ed how they have the exact same IPs covered. I'd rather see some figma Tsukihime figures, for instance, than another Saber (even if it looks better).
They look cool. Lelouche especially. So, do they have accessories like extra hands, heads/faces n stuff?
Me too. I'm waiting for the local release on Yuki, Saber and Haruhi. Yeah. Lots of hands (Yuki has 4 pairs or something), Haruhi has 3 faces, and Saber has 3 faces, 2 hairpieces and 2 swords + scabbards. Lelouche has at least 3 pairs of hands, 2 faces, a gun, a cellphone and this: (yes, lelouche can wear the helmet too =)
By the way, repost from Shinki thread but very relevant: Duel Maid, Figma Yuki, Revoltech Rei, MMS Eika (same size as tall shinki)
With that comparison pic, I wouldn't exactly call the Figma smaller. They're in a similar scale. Yuki's just short, as she should be. And with the same base body, the MMS body is overly large for characters like the Sky Girls. But Max Factory's sure to get a large chunk of my figure purchasing budget in the near future. I could pass on Lelouch and Kanu (although Lelouch looks like he may wind up being good custom fodder for me, and Kanu'll probably wind up an impulse buy because she's hot ). But Haruhi, Lucky Star, F/SN, and Nanoha? I'm all over that like melted butter on lobster. And unlike the competing lines, doesn't look like they're shying away from the male characters too badly, either. So I'm hoping the F/SN line continues long enough so that we can see the rest of the Servants made as well. I'm surprised Kanu still hasn't gotten a release announcement yet, though. After "Brave Version" Haruhi, she was the first one to show up at any trade shows, AFAIK. I'd definitely seen her long before even Yuki was announced, and Yuki's now the first to actually hit shelves.
How tall is Lelouche? I love the mold, and it looks like he's a bit more lanky than the others. Do you know where I could get a size comparison? If he's as tall as the others, that's fine. If he's taller, though... he's a definite buy!
There've been no comparison shots of Lelouch with any of the others, to the best of my knowledge. But with the Haruhi and Lucky Star cast shots, it's pretty obvious that there's some fairly consistent scaling going on there. It's not going to be like Revoltech Dante and Revy, say. Barring sweeping stylistic differences, they should all look pretty good standing next to each other.
I wish they did A's instead. I'd buy A's Nanoha and Fate. I don't know. He's not released yet, so no comparisons in reviews or whatever.. He's always displayed separately from the other figma too (@wanfesu for example). But here is a non promo shot from wanfesu: Educated guess: Waiting for Ikkitousen anime third season.
They'll probably go back to A's, if they sell well enough and there's enough demand for it. StrikerS has a larger character pool, in that while you still get Nanoha and Fate, the Wolkenritter are still open, as are the trainees of Section 6. As I said earlier, I'm pretty sure Subaru's all ready to go as well, so it would be much nicer to be able to display them all together. If they do Hayate, they'd better include a scaled Reinforce Zwei with her (similar to the Wasp included with the Marvel Legends Wonderman, although she wouldn't be that small), and preferably a Unison Mode head as well.
Whoohoo! Nanoha! I've been hoping someone would do action figures for this series. I just wish work didnt block the pics so I could see them now. I actually prefer the StrikerS designs. Less of a loli factor, probably. That and the miniskirts involved. It'll be interesting to see if they do variants of the barrier jackets for the different modes they have. I hope they do one for Subaru, she was my favorite of the new cast. I'm guessing Vita will likely be the next after Nanoha and Fate. She always seemed the most popular of the knights. I'm hoping we eventually get an Arf, actually. A Doggirl is fine too.
If they'd make a figma of Desert Punk I'd be a customer for life. And their quality would make it so damn sweet. Actually, the first company to make ANYTHING on Desert Punk, I'd swear fealty to.
They do, I just wish they weren't a license-fest. Some original figs would be awesome. Unless they want to do Desert Punk, then everything I just said should be ignored.
Some pics of my Yuki that I erroneously posted in the Revoltech thread. Overall I'd say I like her a bit more than a Fraulein Revoltech. Her limbs don't pop off as easily, and she has fewer gaps due to the joints (one thing that bugs me about the Frauleins is how they have gaps in their bums due to the leg joints).
there are some more comparison pics on the figma blog (translated through google): personally, i am not quite sold on these figures...i really like the shinkis a lot. but i will give in and get one just for the heck of it at some point i am sure!
Yeah, that's the one that did it for me I went and ordered the Konata this morning. My wallet hates me.
Since all they would have to do is make new heads and swords, plus some tooling of the uniforms, they could crank out 4 or 5 Numbers from Claymore. Deneve, Miria, Clare and Jean.
