    ...please.:)

I'm a huge fan of the old stuff and the Piraka (and somehow got all the Inika, though I can't find all their peices) but I don't know much about the new stuff.

So anyway, I picked up two of the Toa Mahri (the poor guys are clogging the shelfs here, despite flying off when they were first released): Jaller and Matoro. Mostly because Jaller looked cool and Matoro is (next to Taipu) my favorite Matoran, so I had to have his toa form.

I really like them, and I want to get more, so:

Which ones should I get? I've read reviews, but reviews aren't interactive and can't help me pick. They've (Mahri) gotten a lotta flak for being "unoriginal" (though in my case, they're all new to me) and the blasters, while I think are awesome, people seem to have problems. I can't get all, at least not until I get more $$$.

I have yet to see the Toa Nuva in stores, and with no TFs to buy, this is a perfect chance to get caught up.

    Thanks Onesock.:thumb

Though I was hoping to get multiple opinions, and since I don't know every Bionicle fan here, I thought it would be better to start a thread.

I purchased Hahli yesterday (and continued with Jaller today) and I'm certainly not dissapointed with her. The colours are very nice. and those wings are just stunning! The only things not so great about the set is the way the tube is connected to the mask as the two ends tend to come loose, and her tri-tallon is one very oddly designed weapon.

People bitched about the Mahri being mis-shapen and what not like the Hordika way back in 2005. But once they came out they proved themselves the most original Toa since the original Toa Mata lineup from 2001.
That being said, the Mahri are totally not clones, albeit a couple of them borrow from older construction methods, but still manage to make fresh use of an old build. I.e., Jaller is a modified Inika (and a damn good one at that, his little gattling gun crab rahi is teh shit).
Personally, I think Jaller is freaking awesome. I'm one of the few people who actually likes Nuparu a whole lot (maybe just b/c of how sturdy he is with all those big pieces, I dunno).
IF you can find the titan sets instead (the $20 USD ones), get Gadunka instead while you still can. That giant frog of doom is one HELL of a build (they used Pythagoras with piraka torsos!) and probably my favorite Titan of all time.
If you want even more options, I suggest lego S@H, its like Hasbrotoyshop...but better.

Make sure the country drop down menu up top is adjusted right, last I checked for Canada, you were able to order the new Phantoka and Matoran.

Hm... I have both Jaller and Matoro, and I totally agree with those choices. However, Naparu uses a bare armor system, Hewkii is way too cluttered and miscolored, Hahli's joints might break, andKongu has no very unique pieces to speak of.

I'd suggest getting all three of the new Makuta Phantoka... all very unique builds. The Toa Phantoka are also fresh ideas, but I'd only get them if you like the Toa build.

Really, I think you should get whatever you think looks cool, because each figure comes with a pretty standard amount of articulation nowadays. Titans are all very cool, though, so if you can snatch any, I'd do so.

I collect a few here and there, there's always one or 2 from each series that I like.

Can't keep up with the names tho or Id try and help out

Have you ever dissassembled all your figs and tried to combine them all into one?
I tried, but started to get a headache from all the crap I could make :lol

The only really redeeming factor about Kongu was the fact that he has a more unique body build than any other Inika/Piraka mod. Thankfully Lego brought it back with Pohatu this year, and I'd bet some money on maybe even seeing it again on Onua come summer time.

Well, I would have to recommend the Mutran w/ Vican Wal-Mart exclusive set. It has a Matoran and a Makuta for less than the price for buying them separately. Plus Mutran's got all the weaponry...lots and lots of weaponry.

Well, I took some of the advice here and have bought Kongu and Hahli. Kongu is way better than I thought (twin chain gun rocket launchers of doom, FTW) and Hahli is equally awesome. I couldn't help but modify them. (to fit my personal tastes, not that they already didn't) I am aware of the problems that plague lime green parts (aparantly fixed, with Lewa) but still chose to get her because of her redeeming factors.

I couldn't find frog guy, but when I do, I'll buy him (he does look impressive) or Maxilos ((sp?) He's just too awesome, and the mata-red is just alluring). But there were no titans at the Zellers I went to.

I still can't find those Toa Nuva, but I have a set amout of money saved just for them. (can't wait till pictures of the final three show up.:D )

I would've bought Nuparu (or was it Naparu? I can't remember who got name changes when)

I haven't used Shop at Home before, but if I can't find the Nuva, I may just bite the bullet.

EDIT: Also, Phantoka; these are both Toa and the Makuta bats. (I don't know what their name is) are ythese at the same Price point as Toa Nuva?

Really, all I'm interested in are Toa. Toa, Toa, Toa. I rarely buy Matoran or Titans, so Toa are the sweetspot for me. (And Toa-priced sets) Hense, why I'm so hung-up on the Marhi and new Nuva. I like the little devil-starfish-things the bat's come with.:)

I got the whole Mahri collection a couple of months ago, and I think each one is cool in their own way, get them all if you can.

And yeah, Maxilos and the 08 sets are awesome

You can even phone in your order if you have to at S@H, I order from them at least once a month and I've been able to get a hold of them as late as 11 PM Eastern.
And yes, they fixed the lime plastic syndrome with the new parts, all of the joints have been remolded with more squared off sockets to prevent breaking and wearing out.

I saw that they had been redone, but I didn't know about the socket modifications.

Yeah, I think I've kinda gone on a BIONICLE binge (evidence of this is how I spell BIONICLE in all caps, as I beleive it should be:p )

I found a neat gallery on one of my old favorite sites, this one. I've also visited BIONICLEstory.com to read up on all I've missed. (Matoro dies!?:( )

I'm really looking forward to these new 2008 sets. The only one that dosen't quite fill my expectations is Kopaka. That mask and lack of sheild just make him look too much like Metru-Nuju to me. (at least he still has his sword as a bayonette)

Semi-on-topic: Does anyone know of a site that has all the old flash movies of the Toa Nuva (after losing their elements) that were done in the same style as the MNOLG? (first one)

Plus, I love Takanuva. I've seen leaked pics of his new form, and I love it. Plus, Dark Mirror is awesome.

Man, I did enjoy the CGI film. Need to go Netflix the sequel(s?), then I need to spend about an hour on Wikipedia learning about 'em.

Sounds like these guys have considerably more characterization and backstory than I realized.

He's getting an uprade, too? Have there been more leaked pics of the other Nuva? What's Dark Mirror?

That's what I love about BIONICLE, the story.

It's like the story came first, and they just made toys for it. (not the case, just example) The characters, adventures and events are awesome.

Glad to see you're getting back into Bionicle collecting.

I got some of the original Toa Mata/Toa Olda for sale if you want them.

    And yes, Bionicle is awesome.
