Well I'm playing around with LDD to try reinvent the Toa Metru (Matau is my test subject) and discovered some of the new 2015 pieces have been added to the inventory. The new brain stalk, though not the head itself or any masks. Pohatu, Gali, and Lewa's weapons. The new femur bone, rib cage shells, and all the skeleton weapons. Just to explain my attempts at recreating the Metru team the premise is to make them appear more advance that the 2015-16 Toa. More modern in regards to appearance and technology compared to the more tribal theme of the Mata/Nuva.
Finally picked up Toa Ekimu! And I have to say, he's a spiffing fellow. The build is interesting enough to incorporate both gear functions without being super-clunky or restricting articulation too much; the design is, I think, a suitable 'evolution' of Protector!Ekimu; and of course I smegging love the color scheme. As far as parts go, I don't mind the shield being reused wholesale; more trans-blue is great; the clear Mask of Control is really classy (and the original gold one looks good on him too); and the recolor of Umarak's mask looks quite nifty on Skullgrinder. All in all, yeah, liking this guy. Anyone mocked up a Creature for him? No combining parts built in, and I know the one magazine did a falcon mini-build...
Overlord Makuta definitely isn't a combo model though. And the model that was used for JtO got recoloured using Overlord Makuta's colour scheme, which implies that's supposed to be his canon colour scheme. And I want those "Shadow Protectors" mostly because I really really want that black Mask of Fire, and if we got the right pieces (2015 Toa Masks in dark colours?) we could build G2 Shadow Toa.
Well, the episodes are up, and I'll just say I feel a lot of people won't like the ending. It also really makes me wonder about next year.
Fuck...I wasn't expecting that. This is the first time I'm not gonna like Spoiler leak season. EDIT: ...Oh shit.
Basically whether BIONICLE's continuing or not. I don't know when I'll watch the end of Journey to One since I don't have Netflix now, but from what I've read it's quite the conclusive conclusion. Dorek, quoted there, was recently invited to a tour in Billund so I wouldn't be surprised if he actually already knows what's happening from that. Wish he and I hadn't drifted apart over the years, I'd probably know from him too. Way he's phrasing it seems to imply it's not the end and we are at least getting that third year "promised" when the reboot was first announced. Not a long wait to find out though. Edit: Oooor LEGO's Twitter could just go say it early. Yeah. It's over.
Officially over. No Makuta or MoUP either. I've been buying Constraction stuff only in the past years, so this might be the time I quit Lego for good. Even if the new theme next year is great, it'd be hard for me to get excited.
Lol so not even a fucking Makuta set? As in, pretty much the entire thing this shitty reboot has been leading up to? Absolute joke. Edit: Yup -
All these reboot years I've been waiting for a new Makuta. WTF. *Sigh* at least I have the original Makuta and that store exclusive red flying one.
Fitting that a big slap in the face like this is the cap to a laughably mishandled reboot. And yeah guys, before you say it, my jimmies are indeed rustled. Makuta was/is my favorite Bionicle character and was like the one thing I've been looking forward to most about this reboot since it began. And after all the leadup, this is like borderline trolling for me. Complete shitshow, Lego.
Not sure which is more disappointing, this or the travesty that is Bleach's ending chapters. But yeah, bit of a rough preiod for my hobbies lately.
Was this cancelled due to poor Bionicle sales or poor constraction figure sales? I know we're getting more constraction figures with Star Wars: Rogue One. I wonder if they'll bring back Hero Factory? Maybe bring it back in it's new smaller 2013 minifigure style so they can give us playsets like Makuhero tower. They could even use the Toa Mari minifigure parts from years ago to make a minfigure scale Von Nebula.
