Because (I guess) when the toa split up, they went in way different places, so the cans reflect that. (they're also from a different series "per-se")
Mutran & Vican wal-mart promo are around $14~. There were suppose to be out in April but I saw a whole bunch at wal-mart. There are almost the same as the black figures (even with the small dude). Only changes are in colors are structure of the tall dude.
I saw that he was out. I may look for him, but my chances are slim. (Toa Nuva still nowhere to be found) But now that I've got all the Mahri, I guess I can buy whoever without being compelled to finish the line.
Sorry to bring this thread back, but it's only two days old and it's better than starting a brand new one. For those who have the Maxilos/Spinax and Hydraxon(sp?) sets, what do you think of them? I really like the look of them and the parts I've seen in them look very nice for customs and whatnot. I've tried reading reviews online but there seems to be a lack of them and/or my ex-usual sites are no longer working/up.
I have Maxilos and Spinax. A FANTASTIC set. Maxilos is a fun building experience, and his torso is complete win. He's solid and tall, Brutaka-height. Spinax is also a lot of fun to pose. While his build is very similar to Ehlek, his moving jaw is very cool. Together, they make a beautiful pair that I would highly recommend.
My Maxilos is kinda limp, I like that Lego tried to incorporate ball joints into a torso (not just using them for the limb connections) but w/e. I'd go ebay and nab Nocturn first though if I could. I prefer Hydraxon to Maxilostoo though. Pics- DN
DN, that Hydraxon pic looks freakin awesome! I'm going back to Zellers tomorrow (they must love me there by now ) and I'll try and pick both him and Maxilos with Spinax up at the same time, but if I can't, I'm going with Hydraxon. Though personally, those Barraki sets and other under-sea creatures (like Nocturn and Gadunka) are just too ugly for my tastes. The Piraka were just ugly enough to be cool, but those things just look unappealing.
Whoa whoa whoa!!!! Who are these guys and why do they look so awesome? Also, what's going on with Bionicle now? I saw these Phantom toa dealies in the high/low thread and thought that seemed kinda interesting? So something up with the old Toa Nuva?
i just got this guy today. friggin sweet. i plan on giving him a new color scheme and some better weapons.
I have the first wave of Bionicle and liked them a lot. just couldn't keep up with them, and left it at that. great line, makes me think that they got the evolution of lego's right. duplex, lego, bionicle...then go nuts with erector or something.
The Old Toa Nuva are indeed making a return. So far, Kopaka, Lewa and Pohatu have been released. The last three will be released in a month or two. The first three, along with three Makuta bats, are called "Phantoka" by Matoran. (Means air Spirit) Unknown what the other three will be called. There's pics of the last three a couple pages back. Me? Depends on the combiners. If they're cool, then usually yes. Maybe even once or twice. But the new sets don't have "official" combiner modes. Though that hasn't stopped me.
Can't wait to see it! For anyone who cares, I did a quick but relatively neat review of Maxilos and Spinax. (In the misc toy review thread in page two of this forum ) Unfortunately, I had no luck obtaining Hydraxon. But for $40 Maxilos and Spinax gave plenty of bang for my bucks. Hydraxon will be found. He spends time chillin on shelves in stores here and there, but I need to save some more money.
Seriously? You need him? I saw a buttload at my local Wal-Mart. If you want, I can snag and ship one to you for retail price plus shipping.
No thanks, I've actually decided to skip him. (and of course, the day after I decide, like three show up at my Zellers. ) I'm more interested in the new Toa Nuva. Has anyone found these at retail? I've been to Zellers quite a few times and there's never been any 2008 sets there. (I'm going to Cnd Tire tomorrow, maybe I'll have some luck there)
