Why would Godzilla 2000 be scarred the way Kiryu-Goji was? They're not the same suit design or continuity.

And seeing as the way Bandai Creation likes to release these is with no advertising or advance notice, nobody's got a single clue what is being planned.

Choosen - thanks for posting pixs. I'm wondering...why the "sudden" re-introduction of the Kaijus? Is there a new movie or something?

Well, it's not that sudden. A history lesson may be in order.

The Bandai Creation Godzilla line was originally going to be a more regular thing, back when the toys were released in 2002. Check the links in my first post for that info. We got two playsets and four figures of decent selection, and the promise of more to come. The things got ordered well enough by stuff like comic book shops, but no retail chain really wanted to risk it. The line fails and around the time Armada switches to Unicron Battles in the US (?), the figures are dumped off at KB Toys (Gigan and Rainbow Mothra shortpacked, of course).

Late 2003, 2004, they suddenly begin to reappear. And not just at KB, but K-Mart and CVS and even Toys'R'Us. The Pack of Destruction shows up again. And just when that's enough of a surprise, we get Series 2. The boxes are a lot cheaper, the sculpts a bit worse, and it's imagined (probably not true) that it's just factory leftovers.

Then in 2006, Series 3. New style of box, and a focus entirely on Final Wars versions of popular kaiju. They appear only sparingly, at CVS and KB, but they're out. And even the Crumble Zone, long unseen, finally appears on K-Mart shelves.

So Bandai Creation just seems to randomly put this stuff out every year or so. In the case of these last two series, I think it might be some kind of attempted cross-marketing, first with the release of Final Wars on DVD in the US, and now the Godzilla: Unleashed game coming for the Wii. Though the choice of Godzilla 1968 and Hedorah might be more related to their recent Japanese releases in late 2006. I don't think either of those are in the game.

Chosen - thanks for the history lesson. Now that you mentioned it, yeah Bandai Creatio seems to randomly throw out stuff every few years...probably in line with the release of the latest movie or game. I must admit the 12 inch Gojira looks well sculpted!

Speaking of 12" Godzilla figures...

Still pending info on the source of these images, whether purchased already in the US or not, and other details. I can guarantee neither is a Japanese figure.

More when I learn more - these were literally posted at ClubTokyo only a half-hour ago!

12"!?!?! Holy Shit those look FANTASTIC!!!!! WOW! I want to buy those now! NOW DAMMIT!!!

*ahem*

I've passed on a few of the new figures I've seen recently because they were painted and/or assembled badly/incorrectly (1 Destroyah had 2 left arms). I hope to find ones that are good enough to buy in the future.

Oh man, I REALLY want those two 12"inch figures. They both look very well done.

I needs me that 12" Kiryu. The SoC version is such a pain to get a hold of.

I'd love to see more as well, but some would just turn out to be too big.

Destroyah, Biollante, King Ghidorah, KAISER Ghidorah they'd all be too large. But I'm not at all against the idea.

A 12" Biollante would have to be 24", same goes for KAISER Ghidorah. However, 12" versions of these characters could work for the smaller scaled figures.
