Hmmm, the video is a good idea (though the song made me cringe, but don't worry, I am a cranky old man).
The toy looks alright, like Amdrivers, but with anime girl head.

    Forgot to mention!

    Official homepage: http://www.busou.konami.jp/

And you don't only get the toy, you also get access to an online game!
Although the package states that the service isn't available outside japan, you can if you have the patience access it. The service isn't directly "locked" to others, it's just not translated ;)

    Thanks :)
I'm currently in the progress of downloading the installer (biiiiiiig file) It's realy tempting to stay up tonight and install it :lol  But it would be useless when my activation mail for the free konami ID hasn't arrived yet.

    Busou Shinki thread, yay!

Very nice slideshow, LoC Soundwave, it captures every single lovely feature of MaoChao. :)

I will participate in this thread very soon myself.

I've got a handful now: Strarf (devil), MaoChao (cat), Howling (dog), Ianeira (mermaid), and the Waffebunny booster set. They're pretty cool figures, but I don't think I really need anymore.

Those ring parts in the limbs are really annoying though. I doubt I'll be using the weapon hardpoints much on most of them, so I'll probably just glue those things in.

Any good stores that import these to the states? I kinda dig some of them, but they don't seem super easy to find.

Something about that video is sort of terrifying! Maybe its the dismembered anime girl.

If it helps settle you any, I'm pretty sure that fictionally, they're supposed to be little robot girls or something like that. Like Microman, they're 1:1. The opening FMV for the "game" shows the girls hanging out on coffee tables or bookshelves or whatnot, and staging mock battles against each other. And they're rendered accurately to the figures, with visible joints and whatnot (ditto with the boxart).

Just finnished updating the game (took two hours) and got to play it...

Holy moly it's awesome! The game alone jutifies the 38€ pricetag.
The voice acting is excellent, you get a Fubuki for free (not the toy, sorry) when you install it, then you can unlock the rest using the codes included in the boxes.

I can tell you that Maochao is one heck off a character, she's cute, energetic and impatient :lol  Just makes me love the little girl even more :p

Yeah, I did that with mine as well.

Any hobby store that remotely deals with anime figures should carry them. Big Bad Toy Store and tisinc99 has them as well.

Ya know, I never did get around to playing the game. Maybe I should, but there's the issue of not knowing Japanese at all... Did you have any trouble trying to figure out how it works, LoC Soundwave?

I was gonna do more Fun-ness strips tonight, but decided to do a random take on Arnval and MaoChao instead :p :

    Nope :D
Not with the help of this walkthrough which describes what most of the buttons do.

Getting the required free konami ID on the other hand, was pure HELL! First you need to make sure you have the east asian language support and Jap IME toolbar...
Then there's a lot of fields that needs to be filled in... good thing there's an unofficial walkthrough for that to. (first post only)

Right now I'm waiting for it to load the studio, where you're supposed to be able to pose the Shinkis you've unlocked and take snapshots of them :)

    Ebay:
I saw some of those at Botcon. Joel had 'em. They look cool, but a little price for my tastes. Might pick some up sooner or later. Why are there 2 different price points on 'em?
