Ah I wanted one for a while, but I wasn't sure if I should get it. I'll probably get one after seeing all these photos. I first saw them in Plamo's videos on youtube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5mp81R0v5bc He has some more if you want to see.
Yep. That's the one. Oh hell. Well, there's more I'm gonna have to buy. Wow these things are awesome.
I've been wanting to get into them but can't afford another collection at this point. Hopefully in the near future, however, I'll be able to.
Due to this thread, I caved and grabbed one to see what they are like. There's a size comparison in there too. I was shocked at how large she was. I figured I'd get a first run one and if I could tolerate the negative aspects of that one, I'd probably be able to handle any of them. Yeah. She's not going to be my last. Aside from some loose joints and spindly feet, she terrific. Lots of stuff in the package to change her around with, so I'll probably have several days of transfering stuff on and off of her. Basically, if you have the chance to get one and have any interest, get it. They're every bit as awesome as they look. Watch the small parts though. I found an o-ring laying on the table when I was done with the photos and I have no idea where it came from.
If they're just basic rings (ie, no ports sticking off them or anything), then there's one for each bicep, one for each wrist, and one for each thigh. Those things are my biggest complaint with the line, they're just really annoying. Would've been better if they just engineered them so that the limbs could just collapse that extra millimetre or so, instead of requiring those rings as gap filler.
Yeah, those little things are a pain in the rear. What has me really baffled is that all the same-size o-rings for the limbs are still in the right place on her, and the o-ring I found is a big round one. Not a clue where it came from. Wonder if it was meant to be part of the stand or something? Thanks KA. It's amazing how much you can do with that exo-suit. Heck, if you want, you can even rip off her arms and mount the suit arms there. Or mount them to her head, though that tends to look a tiny bit funky.
Hey if it wasn't for "It's funn-ness on a stick" I would never had bought Maochao in the first place So I should give you full credit, I merely started the thread Night Flame: Nice pictures of Strarf Those add-on parts are awesome, can't decide if I should get that one or Arnval?
Get them both if you can. This was my "beta test" for lack of a better term. As soon as my account gets credited for the toys I'm selling back to BBTS, I'm jumping on a few more of them. Arnval is one of the others I'm grabbing right away. What I'm really looking forward to is having more than a couple and making a supah mecha girl out of them. Though, spending a bit more time with Devil Starf, there are some minor joint issues (looseness, flimsy connections) that, from what I've heard, get better in the later versions.
Great pics, NF! Though I am perfectly happy with Amdrivers they look much more stable with added on bits.
How's the joints held together? Maochaos are held together with metal thingies. Are Strarfs and Arnvals made of any other, possibly softer material?
Yeah, part of my love for these things is the fact that I didn't find out about AmDrivers until the line was being closed out on retail sites. They're even difficult to find on eBay now, at least the ones I actually wanted. If I had more AmDrivers, I probably wouldn't be quite so thrilled with these. And the upcoming transformable suits have me all sorts of excited. AmDriver coming back in full-force in this line. My Starf has metal on the outside of the joints that slide together, and the inside is a softer plastic thingy. They slide together hard the first time, then they aren't all that difficult. By everything I've heard, that changes quite a bit once you get past the first wave. So I'm guessing they got some complaints about that before the following waves got produced.
I only have 2 Amdriver figures & Bisors (got them from Getter Eagle ) and hoping to get some more in the future. I saw somewhere a picture of one of these Shinki figures with Amdriver weapons, and it looked cool. Transformable suits sounds really interesting!
