Dug these old guys out when I was doing some cleaning the other week. They were made by Matchbox back in the 80's when TF and Gobots first hit. In vehicle mode, they're little Matchbox cars, with guns poking out and stuff: To transform them, you split the car mode in half (you could use the bottom as a scateboard for the robots I suppose), the little robot inside unfolds from its boxy car riding form to its robot mode: I've got a lot of respect for that snake one, he is one big critter that fits into that van. There were six in total, I actually had a fourth one time but he is long gone. The backstory is your typical alien invader fare, hailing from the tail of a passing comet (Hailey's Comet?) they came to Earth and possessed our vehicles as the front line of invasion. Cool toys, though, if a little spindly from having to fold up and cram themselves into those little cars. There were some made as cars, that fourth one I had was a neat little roadster. Just my luck I ended up with all the vans!
Those were so cash!! I used to use them as drones for Soundwave. Imagine if they survived until today, or had a revival? That would be sweet. Despite the fact that they are TF ripoffs, the idea was original unto itself.
