Heh. Its the Gundam version of Metal Gear. Cept with a less headsplitting plot. And less Raiden!

Well, the store may be having issues with the order again: still haven't gotten my confirmation through the e-mail...

Actually, I just got the confirmation e-mail yesterday. It was apparently shipped out on the 5th, and they've just gotten around to telling me now. Eh....

It'll be here by tomorrow, though, which makes me happy.

    IN HAND!!!

Went and built the SD kit already. Poor guy is so wimpy it's almost not funny. Yet it is. And he's kinda cool in his wimpiness. He's loaded down as far as weapons go as well.

I'm in the process of building the OYW Gundam now. Building HGs has spoiled me...

Well you see, it's not nearly as complex to build a HG. Thank god there are only two screws on the model...

I'm really liking the overall look, though. The faded colors add a more realistic edge to it, and I like how the bazooka and shield can be stored almost anywhere on the MS. Lovin' the hammer too.

Has anyone ever built this guy? He's supposed to have perfect transformation. I am tempted, but he'll have to wait.... for now.

Well, I'll be getting that one eventually: at the moment, I only have the HGUC Zeta, and that one has a separate fuselage section for use in Waverider mode.

THIS ( http://mahq.net/models/gundam/z/mg1-100-msz-006-v2.htm ) may be of some assistance, though.

I've got the MG Zeta 2.0. Sheer engineering marvel, that one. Quite solid in both modes, with lots of ingenious transformation and locking mechanisms (I particularly like the mechanism in the wings that automatically retracts the MS mode locking tabs and extends the Waverider locks when transforming to WR mode, and vice-versa). Extremely poseable, especially with the addition of a ball-jointed waist, universal hip joints (yay, no more restrictive ball-joint hips!), ball-jointed shoulders, double-jointed neck, and individually jointed fingers (out-of-package, the hands essentially have the standard MG hand articulation, but the three-finger block is designed in such a way that the fingers can easily be cut apart, to allow them to articulate individually. And because the base of each finger is balljointed rather than just a simple hinge, you can actually spread the fingers out for proper reaching/grasping poses). The display stand is also a wonderful addition, allowing for a huge degree of displayability.

It's not totally perfect, however. All that extra articulation means that there's plenty of opportunities for loose joints. The waist in particular suffers, since it has to support the entire upper torso, including the backpack. Some users report it's not an issue, but in my experience, any attempt to transform the thing initially caused the pelvis to split in half. A dab of glue fixed that. There's a distinct lack of peg joints in that area, which causes the problem. The grip tabs for the weapons are also a bit loose, making it difficult for it to hold either the rifle or the Hyper Mega Launcher. Arm joints are sufficient enough for it to hold the weight, just that the hands won't grip strongly enough.

None of the flaws are un-fixable, though, and all of them would be solved naturally just by giving it the full modeling treatment (just a coat of paint and some topcoat on the joints and hand tabs should increase friction enough to tighten the joints, and gluing is something you should be doing anyways).

Sorry dude but when you say, "its not nearly as complex to build a HG", I take that statement that HGs are more complex than a MG kit...which I find mind boogling! o_O ...LOL!

Personally I find HG kits to be so easy and relaxing to build as compared to MG kits...just carefully snipping off the parts from the tree, smooth the rough edges and combine the joints togather and the kit is complete (without painting of course).

With regards to the OYW Gundam...if you're impressed now, wait until you complete him. Not only is the colour scheme good but it is one of the most "stable" and "articulated" MG kits out there...a definate improvement over the earlier MG kits.

Its a kit I have have most raved about! LOL! Too bad, Bandai didn't give similar updates to the Zaku IIs, Gelgoogs and Doms in the same OYW MG series.

I'll rephrase then: it's not as hard to build a HG. They don't have the inner skeletons and all...

And from what I've seen of the Zakus and Doms and Gelgoogs, they were fairly good to begin with. Whereas, the original Gundam was crap.

I don't know about the Zaku, it was originally released right after the Gundam, but the MG Dom is awesome. Of my few MGs it's definitely been my favorite build, even setting aside that it's one of my favorite MS.

Yeah, the original release of the RX-78-2 wasn't that good as the head sculpt was off. Although the Zaku IIs look good, they have balancing issues and are not articulated at all and yeah, the Dom is a great kit - one of the better ones out there.

The gimmick of the OYM kits for Zaku IIs, Dom and Char's Gelgoog are the "colours"...they're the same as the game (never played the game) and the sprue (cut) marls are not so apparent upon completion - if one does not paint them.

Well, finished up the model last night: gotten around to panel-lining most of it. Awesome.

I've been having some trouble getting the bazooka posed correctly, and the polycap on the left arm (connecting it to the shoulder) is a bit loose for my tastes, but besides that, I'm completely satisfied. This one is FAR beyond my other MG (the Kampfer) in my eyes. Very solid construction, extremely nice articulation, and the weaponry is very nicely made. I very much like the multiple storing points for the weapons.

I'll probably be putting up more detailed reviews later on, after I apply some of the water-slides and stickers to the MG.

Yeah, like I mentioned before its one of the better MG kits and for its price point it is the best MG out there - IMO. I've checked with my kit and it doesn't have the loose polycap which yours has.
