My friend and I have a collecting rule: "Buy it now, or regret it later."

(Of course, this only applies to toylines we already actively collect.)

So yes, I generally heed the voice. I ignored it twice in the past -- on Clone Wars Kit Fisto and the McQuarrie Concept Stormtrooper -- and never saw the toys at retail again. Luckily, Hasbro is about to grant me a reprieve on both figures.  

 

Let's see....where should I begin......

Armada: Overload: Bought the sucker and passed on powerlink Red alert cause I thought that Overload was more shortpacked (and just guess which one got shortpacked)

Energon: Black Unicron, I almost cried in the store just to get my mom to lend me those *horrible* 699 sek (99.89 $) I ended up with having to scrape the snow of the driveway the whole vinter.

Cybertron: Literaly threw myself after the last Sideways at TRU because he was shortpacked (wonderful toy)

Alternators: Grimlock, why did I buy Grimlock, Yes he might have been one of swedens what five alts back then but, come on there's still many other nice alts here (now the suckers on sale for 189sek=27.1$)

Universe Nemesis Prime- I'd seen it hitting $80 on ebay and bought a second to resell, but by that time people were finding them and the price dropped. It's still in my closet.

Scorch- heard all the fuss over him at first and bought him. That started my new clone army after selling my first one for space. I've got probably around 70 and counting now.

Just this morning I bought the SW Imperial Shuttle in the hopes it'll turn into gold. Or be really awesome, but I haven't opened it yet.

Probably a few others, but I realized I'm generally too lazy to resell stuff so I don't bother.

 

i bought 4 alt. nemesis primes.

that so far has worked out for me.

oh....and also picked up metroplex G1 for $30 but now i dont want it  

 

Short answer: Yes

Long(er) answer: It works both ways. In cases like E Beachbomber, Alt Swerve i'm glad i bought them when i did. However Primus for instance was a slight panic buy out of fear that i'd never see the 'head' version again.

 

Now that I think about it I bought Supreme Starscream at $50 just because I thought it's the coolest thing at the time. Now it's on clearance everywhere.. doh!

And I've passed alt Swerve twice because I didn't think it'd be that rare and again my instinct failed me. I also passed energon black Unicron at Ebay for $25 and ended up paying more for loose one cuz I was in love with black TFs at the time.

So in a nutshell I should always act against my gut feeling when buying TF lol.

 

I rushed down and grabbed Primus w/ Unicron head pretty much the day he was released here because I feared he would never show up again. I forked out $100 AU ($75 US) which was a sale price too, and I'm glad I did as I only ever saw him once again.

I'll admit that when I saw this thread title the first word to pop into my mind was "Stormjet" - I almost got one but passed at the time.

 

I've got a pair of Red Armada Thrusts I bought on impulse. Figured one to keep carded and one to sell on at some point - or open. He was never a design I cared for much, though, from a line that I liked at the time but has been since overshadowed by everything since.

 

ive seen a shitload of primus with unicron head figures......they are trying to clear them out at Kmart now for $99. Bah....still too expensive

 

Honestly, no. Bt then again I'm not a typical "collector" as I only buy the toys I like and generally have no clue as to whether something is rare or not.

 

E beachcomber which rare i think.. zarak (repaint of armada megatron.. not sure if it is rare or not) bruticus and superion energon jap sets..

no regrets for anything I have got so far..

 

The voices in your head talk about toys?  

Seriously though, yeah all the time. Usually the voice in my head hits the nail dead on, but sometimes he's off. I can't think of any Transformer Examples though, only Star Wars.

 

yeah, I just bought Classic Mirage and Grimlock, which I still have on pre-order from HTS.

What really kills me is buying replacement toys at the hobby shop, as I now have two G2 megatrons... One with accessories, and electronics, but missing stickers and one with all the stickers, but not all the sounds work. Time to do a sticker transplant I think.

 

Cybertron Unicron. Only to see dozens of him clogging the shelves for the next month or two. But no regrets.... he was cheap, and he's a pretty decent toy.
