I'd say it feels pretty much equally durable to the Yamato/Arcadia. For the canopy/shield, the heat shield is designed to accomodate a tab on the battroid's chest plate to peg into it, which is one of the things that holds the torso together. It's pretty ugly leaving it on in fighter mode and if you use the clear canopy in battroid mode you can't peg the chest into place.
I'm tempted to get the vf-29 Perceval. I might be able to pick one up for under $175 shipped to the US. Seems like a good deal. Anyone have the mold? How is the durability? I saw one video review where the reviewer complained about another version having eventually developed loose shoulders. Anyone have any problems with loosening over time? It's still a lot of Money to spend if it looses its posability.
New pics of the Evolution Toys VF-2SS. Good they painted the Sylvie figure and added a few more paints apps. If the figure is solid from in hand reports and shit isn't falling off like a certain Arcadia valk I have then I might go for the release with the SAP.
Can't wait I have that one on preorder If it is good...then I'll surely order the others (if they make them).
I still can't deal with those huge hinges. At that price they should have been integrated into the side of the stabilizer thruster. It also looks like a floppy mess with everything spaced out in plane mode. Battroid mode looks awesome though.
So I may have come across the hi metal series by bandai and I have to ask if these are roughly the same size as the robot damashii figures. And secondly where is the best place to purchase them. I watched a review for the armored vf-1j and I have to say it looks amazing. And I see the vf-1s Roy Fokker strike version is either being reissued or just coming out, either way I feel if they can blend in with my rd's I will probably pursue hunting them down. So far eBay offers both for around $130- $150 each. A little steep but not completely out of my range. Was hoping for some clear information on these figures since the reviewer was kinda vague on their release status.
Keep an eye on Amazon as well. I got my Hi Metal GBP from Amazon for $100 a few weeks ago, and it was eligible for Prime so free 2 day shipping. It's currently $130 there, but their prices fluctuate regularly. All my RD's are in storage now, but here are some previous scaling/sizing pics: vs RD VF-25 and RX-0: (from HI-METAL R VF-1J ?????????? ???? : ????? <-- lots of pics!) Below are my pics. vs RD ZZ: vs RD Sazabi and HeavyArms (Iron Man is a Figuarts): vs the 1/72 Dougram kit and 1/60 Destroid Tomahawk (MadCat's a non-scale, but about close to 1/65ish, I think): The best place is to (try) to get them during preorder-times at the regular japanese-shops like Ami and HLJ. Some of us here share announcements when the preorder-links from most japanese-shops are up so you'll at least have a chance of securing a preorder. After that period, you're at the mercy of the high-pricing schemes of the secondary resellers and scalpers. You can also check some resellers at Amazon, as posted by Rewind earlier. With that said, the Focker HM-R is a Tamashii-webshop exclusive that are not available at ami and hlj for now, but Anime-Export or Nippon-Yasan re-sell it and may still be offering it. Just be prepared for the sticker-shock with the pricing and shipping fees from either of them. Also, be aware that the HiMetal-R is the improved version with the metal shoulder-hinges as shown here:
Thanks Rewind and Treatment, that's a lot of helpful info. Looking at the ZZ beside it it looks like it will blend in nicely. I'm probably going to have to wait a few weeks before I do anything unless a really great deal comes up. Thanks again! I went ahead and did a pre order for Fokker's version at Nippon yasan, not sure why I didn't think to check there. For ems shipping it was only $106, which is much better than the other options.
When it rains it pours. I just can't believe my luck. I spent a decade pining over a YF-19 and then I got two Arcadias... then two VF-19 Advanced. Now another YF-19 is coming... I might need to sell one to avoid oversaturating my collection... What's the point of another 1/60 YF-19 from Bandai? It's going to be exactly like the VF-19 Advance but without the Super Parts, I'm assuming. So no Super Parts and slightly different markings is my best guess.
Macross Mecha Manual Updated December 6, 2015 Major Update - We Remember Love! Macross Mecha Manual - A fansite for mechanical designs of the anime franchise Macross It has been five years since the last update to the Macross Mecha Manual and it is time to remember some mecha love. Despite a lengthy absence, today marks the largest update ever completed for the website. The combined total of debut profiles and revised profiles amount to over 250 new individual pieces of artwork featured across the website. I do appreciate all the emails and love fans have for the website, but please remember the M3 is an archive (not an active news or community website) so updates will remain infrequent. Today's update to the Macross Mecha Manual features 63 new profiles. The task for this latest update is to share colored Macross artwork unavailable elsewhere. In much the same way the Zentradi artwork was improved, numerous other mecha are now showcased with enhanced colored art. It is my hope the new colored art will continue to distinguish my website from others and from the artwork found in official publications like the Macross Chronicle. Similarly, all gun pods and missiles site-wide have been revised with new scans and enhanced coloring to give these memorable weapons a place to shine. Other additions include improved black and white line art sections with some new line art pieces not previously featured on the M3 website. There are two standout features in this update. First is the debut of the Macross Technical Manual, a new dedicated webpage for all fan-made analysis and technical guides about the Macross universe. The debut of this webpage features an article discussing the "Firepower of the GU-11 Gun Pod". The second standout feature of the update is the presentation of fan-made artwork by the talents of Jeff Sorley, Neldorwen, lazyMK, Daniel Dugarte/vectormz and others. These artists have created line art that has either been redrawn from rare published source books or they have drawn completely original pieces based upon the animation. This update features dozens of these pieces for fans to enjoy. Another feature in this update is the revision of common/support vehicles. Since variable fighters, robots and ships are the stars of the Macross series those designs were prioritized for the Macross Mecha Manual. Most other vehicles were added only to provide a varied catalogue of content. Lacking sources for Macross line art and color reference meant many of these common/support vehicles were featured in tiny, poor-quality scans with inaccurate colors. Now with a much larger book collection at my disposal, many vehicles have been scanned in high resolution and feature superior colors. I have also added a small portion of new vehicles - some not found colored in any Macross publication - to once again add a little variety to the website catalogue. Still other features of note in this update come thanks to the release of the Macross franchise on the Blu-Ray format. The benefit of these High Definition releases is access to sharp, vivid color reference from which to build better art for this website. All pre-existing screenshots site-wide have been upgraded to High Definition and numerous new additional screenshots have been added, many of which help highlight those blink-and-miss vehicles that some viewers may have overlooked. A few final additions to round out the update are several new profiles for the More Mecha section. These additions feature mechanical designs from Neon Genesis Evangelion and The Vision of Escaflowne. As always, make sure to Refresh the webpages you view and/or clear your browser cache to view the new pictures that have replaced existing artwork.
