Hey all Anyone on here planning on picking up a few Amiibo figures? I'm probably going to end up getting a few if I can resist going for the full set. The pictures online so far make them look really nice. Here's hoping the same applies to the retail versions!
I was wondering if someone would make a thread for these. I'm in for: Samus Pit Link Toon Link Zelda Sheik ...and any other LoZ figs they make.
I'm probably going to be buying as many of them as I can. First on my list is definitely Marth, Villager, and Link. I wonder if they'll do any exclusives or anything of some of the alternate palletes or costumes. I'd love a Fierce Diety Link or a Wire Frame Mac.
I'm getting, Wii Fit Trainer Samus Pikachu Hope to get, Fox Meta Knight Sonic Hoping for, Duck Hunt Dog But I'm probably only going to play with Wii Fit Trainer.
Yeah I don't know which ones to pick up, honestly. I know myself. I will end up going all in or none at all. First of all, I absolutely hate the fact that they won't work with the systems while sealed in the boxes. I wanted my collection to stay MOC, dammit. Now, I am still thinking about buying them all, but since I want to leave the MOC, I'd end up never using them. Also, back when these fig were announced, I said that I wouldn't bother collecting Amiibos if there were going to be hard to get exclusives and the like. And guess what, Shulk has been announced as a Gamestop exclusive. Admittedly, a Gamestop exclusive is definitely not impossible to get, but if it's the beginning of worse, I'm gonna be pissed. I don't want Amiibos to be like Skylanders where versions of characters are super hard to get or produced in such small quantities that they might as well not exist. Oh well, I still have 24 hours to make up my mind, I guess. In the meantime...should I break street date?
YES YOU SHOULD! And, at least you can preorder Shulk at gamestop. It's still lame that he's exclusive, but... oh well. I preordered mine the other day. Metaknight's also apparently going to be a best buy exclusive.
I grabbed Link, Samus and Pikachu while TRU is having the 3 for $30. IDK what the case count is, but at TRU, fitness trainer (IDK what they call her), Villager, and Marth were almost sold out. Anyways, Link and Samus look terrible.... well could be better. I feel like breaking them off and putting the Figmas on base aha
I'll have a pikachu one in with my smash bros delivery today, but I will probably collect them all over the coming months
Saw (some of) them in-store today. Kirby, Pikachu, Yoshi look good. Mario, DK, Wii Fit Trainer looks alright. Link, Peach looked not so good (looked like cheap gashapons to me). Marth, Fox and Samus were sold out, so I couldn't judge on those personally. So it seems that the figures that require less molded/painted details look really good, and those that contain lots of details don't look as hot. I was originally planning to get Zelda and Captain Falcon (the 2 characters that I use most in Smash Bros), but now I'm not so sure. Getting a Kirby or Pikachu might be nice, though, but I don't use either of those characters much...
I opened Link up today to try with Hyrule Warriors, I guess I forgot I had to wait for the update. Anyways, theres a aluminum tape underneath the bast which keeps it from being read out of package. There was a demo video over at TRU. You touch the screen to get started and it asks you to scan an amiibo. Its obviously not possible because of that sticker ..... and there was no gamepad out to scan them anyways.
Damnit I wish I could get to TRU during this sale. I'm also having the problem of basically wanting all or nothing... Ugh. But it would just be so cool to have all the Smash fighters line up as their trophies.
And the rabbit hole is already been dug. I decided to use my rewards points for $50 off at Gamestop and that tempted me into getting an Amiibo. So I left with a Marth.
I had a big preorder in at TRU.com, but for some reason they screwed the pooch and are only sending me Yoshi for the time being. So I went to the store and got Wii Fit Trainer and Villager. Pretty happy about both. Marth seems to be the one that's going the quickest, which is weird...I happen to think he's one of the weakest ones because the paint on his face is so krunked up.
My brother got Link and Fox, they're way nicer than I thought they'd be. Kinda want a Greninja... I wonder if they'll repaint these things in the alternate colors from Smash Bros. Would be awesome to get Fierce Deity Link, Galacta Meta Knight, and Dark Samus (even if her pose sucks).
