Ok, this was long overdue. A central spot for all things living dead. This is a thread for those who have hit all the popular/infamous films and are looking for more. So let's talk zombies then, shall we?

Post recommendations, reviews, etc. Try to give reasons not simply one to two word posts. That stuff helps no one. I'll personally be popping in with a ton of stuff. I've seen everything from the popular to the obscure. I guarantee you that I will hit you with stuff you've never seen. So hit me and everyone else with zombie stuff we should be watching.

The Netflix (Watch Instantly) Zombie Apacolypse
These are all flicks currently available via Netflix watch instantly.

Movies you should have already seen
    • Night of the Living Dead (1968)
    • Return of the Living Dead
    • Zombieland
    • Evil Dead (more demons than zombies, but it's listed under Zombies)
    • Phantasm (series)
    • Dead Alive

Movies you haven't see, but should give a chance
    • Let Sleeping Corpses Lie (spanish)
    • AAAH! zombies
    • The Horde
    • Mutants
    • Doghouse (cheesy, barely zombie related, but not bad)
    • Dance of the Dead (not the Robert Englund one)
    • The Signal (more 28 Days Later type, but very strange)
    • City of the Living Dead (if the Netflix one is the censored version, seek out the uncensored DVD)
    • Tombs of the Blind Dead (not for everyone)
    • Last of the Living (ok, not great)
    • Zombiethon (very cheesy selection of zombie trailers, but I loved it)

Movies you should avoid at all costs
    • Awaken the Dead
    • Raiders of the Damned
    • Return in Red
    • Dead Heist
    • Days of Darkness
    • ******ead
    • Zombie Wars
    • Severed
    • Zombie Town
    • The Darkness
    • Day of the Dead (remake)
    • Dead and Deader
    • Video Dead
    • Zombie Nation

Dead Snow: Two words... Zombie Nazis! But seriously, for an independent film, it is just plain awesome! I don't know what else you want me to say, I don't wanna give away all the plot. Oh, it is however all subtitled.

I really enjoyed Dead Snow. Very fun, although the script left me scratching my head at times. But the over-the-top nature of the flick is great. The film is beautifully shot as well.

Glad someone agrees on that. I was told it was a zombie movie, that does NOT even come close! You wouldn't call Outbreak with Dustin Hoffman a zombie movie would ya?

    Zombie Movies Worth Tracking Down

Some may be on the Netflix list, but these are films that are really, really worth checking out. These are films that aren't in the "infamous" list, but are worth your time.

    • The Beyond
    • The Horde
    • Cemetery Man (loosely based on the Dylan Dog comics)
    • Versus
    • Undead
    • Dead Snow
    • Fido
    • [REC] series (remade in US as Quarantine, [REC] is better)
    • Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things
    • Rabid (an early David Cronenberg flick)
    • Night of the Comet (cheesy 80's, but fun)
    • Zombies of Mass Destruction (not great, but it's watchable)

If anyoen wants to know more about any of these flicks, post in here and I'll do a small write-up.

If you're referring to Lucio Fulci's 1979 classic, I highly recommend everyone watch that movie. It's an absolute horror classic. Again, do not go for any of the censored versions (which are harder to come by). If you can watch it with the original Italian dialogue, do so. The dub is mostly awful. But the ending of that flick is intense.

I tried, but couldn't bring myself to watch the scene in Zombie/Zombi 2/Zombie Flesh Eaters where the woman gets her throat bitten out in the cemetery. However, I had no problem watching the infamous "eye meets splinter" scene.

First time I've ever heard that film referred to as "Zombie Flesh Eaters". I've always known it as The Ghost Galleon. Had it on VHS eons ago as Horror of the Zombies. It's easily the worst of the "Blind Dead" series. Oddly, the first (Tombs of the Blind Dead) and the last (Night of the Seagulls) are my two favorites of the series.

"Zombie Flesh Eaters", mostly in the UK, is one of the many names for Fulci's 1979 Zombie (aka Zombi 2, Woodoo). Just threw me off. :lolol

That's a voodoo zombie flick. It's a classic, but I don't think it belongs in a list that focuses on the flesh craving undead. Although I don't believe we should debate what constitutes a zombie movie, I think we should agree to leave films based on voodoo zombies out of our lists.

Fair enough, I just suggested it since it was one of the first.

WWZ...Make it happen. I liked Dead Snow, but they weren't really zombies. Planet Terror is awesome. Nothing will ever beat the original Night of the Living Dead, unless WWZ is done right.

I watched Dead Snow a while ago. I just remember that I had the dubs on and it was hilarious.

I can't believe no one has mentioned Shaun of the Dead, probably my all time favorite zombie movie.

Although if you're going to go strictly straight horror, then my favoite would be the original Night of the Living Dead. "They're coming to get you Barbara!"
