Just curious- how do you get "g1 cartoon" when looking at alt modes that appear real life accurate? Its usually bot modes that are made to look "cartoon." Or did I miss pictures???

 

Definitely this. I am still planning on picking up the V2 TW Devy, but will be De-Ox'ing the head right away.

No, you didn't miss any pictures. I think it is more I used a term that loosely fits. That the current design gives me hope we might get something overall closer to G1 toon than what they have been doing. A better way to say it would be I think the alt modes are real life accurate but are not overly busy like their coneheads or other recent offerings which are neither G1 or real life accurate. The initial conehead renders had less detail and now have a ridiculous amount especially after painting. I hope that subtlety will translate to the bots as well. A good example of what I don't want to see is their Elegy/Dirge. There seems to be a need to recreate every sticker from the toy as some painted panel on the bot so that now he has yellow all over him. Dirge had no yellow. I like some important detail but mostly want a clean bot and alt mode. If someone wants to use Reprolabels they can. Some people want every detail painted, I don't. Less is more. For this is not really a Takara toon argument. I am not a big fan of TTs work recently from their Inferno to the new Megatron. Even though I like Shockwave I think it went too far there as well.

 

Now that you mention it, there definitely is no rush especially considering that FT is also jumping into the MP sized combiner market.

It's pretty clear from that one pic that these are already wildly out of scale with each other and all other MPs.

 

This time I think I'll go for their bruticus and superion, and actually buy something that actaully looks good. Lookin' good guys!

You mean the Kup and Arcee they already showed prototypes of or the Astrotrain they released about a year ago?

 

All of whom look pretty awful IMO. Hopefully they don't overly "Ox" these releases.

 

Oops maybe should have phrased better - I am hoping the jets are seeker sized and such I mean. Or whatever they were on the toon.

And not OX'd out. If they are then I have no use for this set as my (MP) collection is about donezo.

It's not like you could't put a faceplace on him before... but absolutely, we need something better than the out-of-box uranos. I don't think it would hurt to give him some G1 toy gold either.

 

Here I am just hoping Silverbolt will have his toy-accurate 3rd-mode / base-mode

 

Uranos with upgrades is a perfectly awesome voyager/chug scaled combiner though. Never expected him to be anything close to MP - so I was and am quite happy with him  

 

Awesome if they release these together BUT OMG MY WALLET!
