Hey I like transformers and he didn't really criticise the gunplay. So that suits me. I love Yahtzee's reviews and he hits the nail right on the head here. But remember, lest we start bashing Mr Croshaw, that these are entertainment and his criticism is always 'stylised'.

I was entertained and I'll keep playing.

I agree with him for the most part, but he does tend to hyperbolize a tad. Anything that could be halfway decent to middling is terrible to him, and anything that could be considered Great, or Very good is considered Perfect to him. It all depends.

I seen that he hinted at him not liking the game a few weeks back so I knew he would not like it. Any ways good point about the driving missions and air missions.

My first reaction to seeing this thread: YAY!
    Immediately followed by: Oh... Crap.

I love Zero Punctuation. Most of the time he's a refreshingly honest review even if he hates everything. And while his statements are true, this is another case of where I choose to disagree with him over all.

Some of his points are valid though, like not being able to aim strait up or down and the missed opportunity for awesome vehicle segments. High Moon needs to take a page from Halo for the next one while keeping what is awesome about this one.

    Still love the game though.

    That's his entire deal...

(I thought he was actually kind of funny this time around, he's been lacking lately...)

What an asshole. He has a couple of valid points, but they're just valid, not universally agreeable. The only thing I actually agreed with was the limitations of the flight mode.

His snark drenched style is offensive enough, but he lost any credibility when he wrote off the gravity of the story solely based on the fact that the characters are robots. It demonstrates a very clear lack of understanding of what the backstory of Transformers is, i.e. they are sentient, fully intelligent beings. His unfavorable comparison to Lord of the Rings in the dialog makes me ill, as it only demonstrates he's a LOTR wanker who criticizes Transformers fans as if Lord of the Rings is essentially any different. Both are stories of a fully contrived world with fully contrived races, characters and conflicts.

Was hoping he'd review this eventually. I do agree with some of his points but I forgot how harsh he can be and that when he comes down on something he comes down hard. Hopefully somebody at High Moon takes a look at this, has a bit of a laugh but also takes note of certian gameplay elements mentioned to improve on if WFC gets a sequel. I don't see where he saw the LAM influence in the designs though, probably just wanted to take a shot at the movies/Bay/LeBeouf like everyone else.

Aw, bless him, he can't even identify with Starscream.

Anyway, I agree it wasn't that great a game.

Can't wait for more of the "This dude's an asshole" posts.

Yahtzee's whole shtick with Zero Punctuation is taking a game and basically ripping it to shreds. He does it with bad games, he does it with good games. It's his thing. So getting offended won't do jack.

Imagine how someone who doesn't care about Transformers would think of this justification. Robots with souls. Tee hee.

Yahtzee's a great reviewer and, though he tends to bash games quite severely, there's more than a grain of truth to his ramblings. However, his job is to bash video games, so he can't shower them with praise. Unless they've been released for five years.

    Or, y'know... nerdrage.

I agree with his review on pretty much all points...I'd say the only thing where I was like "Eh, I dunno" was the fun factor. The story itself was enjoyable to me, but that's probably because I'm a fan/stooge.

Love myself some ZP reviews. The milking machine gag is fantastic.

Exactly, it's that snarky opposition to any unique idea that defines fanboys and that he parodies. Like the bit where he makes fun of Transformers' toy origin or the movie aesthetic. I'm sure someone like Carl Sagan would love the idea of alien AI but overly critical fans wouldn't unless they grew up with the idea.
