Link I just heard this on the news tonight DAMN that's one of the most coldhearted things I've ever heard. Way to go Radio Shack, make those people feel LESS then human It doesn't matter if the employees knew it was coming.Actions speak louder then words in this case.Like the article said this makes you wonder if this is how they treat employees. And these actions are just flat out heartless It's the equivalent of dumping your gf over a voice mail message or a post it message on her fridge.
"It's the equivalent of dumping your gf over a voice mail message or a post it message on her fridge." Sounds like good ideas to me...
I have a harsh firing story of my own. when kroger fired their entire night crew so they wouldnt have to give us mandatory raises, they did so with a police officer present to escort us out of the building one by one afterwards. still makes no sense to me...
Being that I major in Human Resources, that's some pretty cold shit right there. By the sounds of it, the company isn't even committed in providing services to help their ex-employees to find new oppurtunities or too improve their marketability, which is becoming very commonplace among workplaces nowadays (I forget the exact term, it's been a long summer). The article is correct when it says much can be learned about a company from its actions. I'm not too clear on what made this method of letting employees go seem like a reasonable idea, as it's only going to create a fiasco. I mean really, who wants to shop at a place that treats its employees (either corporate or brick-and-mortar) like complete wastes of skin? Not me.
Gee, what's to stop you from going back to that store AFTER the police are gone? I guess my dollars both physically and electronically will go to their rivals or similar stores and NOT Radio Shack.
Yeah I heard about this the other day. Kind of a cowardly way to fire people. But you can keep coming in and say you didn't get the email..
"Jimmy, what the hell are you doing here?! Didn't you get my email?" "Darn it, I knew I should've checked my gmail account"
It's not coldhearted.. it's just a chicken shit way to fire someone. I mean come on ... at least have the bizalls to tell it to my face!!
I got an email, as did 18 other people (if a layoff in the UK is 20 people or more we're entitled to legal representation at the companies expense) to go to a meeting. Then they told us we were all redundant, through some bullshit points scheme. What a crock of shit. Thing is, the Human resources woman always used to doctor her timesheets, until after the redundancies someone (who was righteously pissed that several good people (and shitty ones TBH) were made redundant)actually complained about her. The atmosphere in the company changed after we went... then a year later the whole company went down.
